Just wondering if the Genius' have the ability (and product) to replace a failing hard drive? Anyone know?

Of course an Apple Store can replace a failing HD. They will not do upgrades though. For example if your existing 1 TB drive has or is failing they will only replace it with another 1 TB drive. If it's under warranty no problem, if it's out of warranty expect to pay and either way expect to be without the computer for a matter of days.
