So my mid-2007 Core2duo iMac has been having problems for the past few months being really slow and locking up. It had a kernel panic and crashed 4 days ago and after running disk repair through the startup disk there were so many unfixable problems that I ended up doing a clean install and transferring everything from time machine. It worked beautifully for about 36 hours and now it's hanging like crazy, I had to do a hard shutdown and it's having problems finding the startup drive. I'm pretty sure my hard drive is shot.
I looked up how to replace it and I'm not confident I can do it myself. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have someone replace it for me (I'm content with another 320GB drive)? And more specifically, does anyone have any recommendations for someone qualified to do it in the Northeastern (or even Central) Connecticut or Rhode Island area?
Thanks,
Kristen
