best buy was having a sale on the raptor x ($190), so i decided to pick one up to replace the stock 250GB drive from apple. i want to reinstall osx on the raptor and use the 250GB drive as another scratch disk alongside a 320GB drive. what's the best way of going about this? i don't store anything on the 250GB drive, only apps. many thanks for your help, i don't have any experience with this type of stuff.

Not fully sure I know what you're wanting, but here goes nothing... Boot from the OSX discs and select the new drive. Install OSX. In System Preferences, select this new drive under Startup Disk. Reboot and proceed to either manually delete the System Folder on the 250GB drive, or use Disk Utility to reformat it (and obviously delete everything on it). Is this kinda what you're wanting?

yes, thanks. that's what i've done. i wasn't sure if i needed to erase the stock 250 before installing os x on the new drive. i've now got the raptor running and have been reinstalling all of my apps, plug-ins, etc. thanks, again.

Performance boost?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, what kind of performance difference do you see with this configuration?

haven't had much time to do anything, yet. took yesterday to get it up and running. i'll do some tests tonight and post results. apps did seem to respond quicker from the little i played around with it.
