I have a 27" Imac, it's the first model with edge to edge glass (late 09 I think?)

Anyways the HD doesn't typically bother me, because my home is pretty noisy usually, but when i'm home alone (for once!) and trying to get some recording done the HD can get annoying. I was just wondering if this can be covered under apple care or not? I would put one in myself but I don't want to void my warranty.

Anyways i'm sorry if this has been discussed before.

I imagine apple spent a lot of money developing a system that can run efficiently with minimum fan speeds, and I find it peculiar that they would ruin there good work with overly loud hard drives.

Replacing the hard drive or RAM does not void your warranty. If you want, you could sell off the hard drive second hand (or get it converted into a external HD), buy a new one and install it yourself. I shall be doing it when I get a SSD for my MBP. Don't imagine its that hard :D
