hard drive space on imac

heyyy i recently bought a 24 inch imac and i have a question. i decided to go for 750 gigabyte for my hd space, but when i look at my harddrive, for capacity it says: 698.32GB.

Is there something wrong here idk D:

That's Normal,after formatting a drive is never going to be the amount of Gb which the manufacturers say it is.
You'll "lose" about 5-10%.
That's about the first thing You should know about any disks,i.e.,buy a flash disk,lets say 512 Mb and after formatting it is 489 Mb!
So,don't worry.
and of course after installing an OS and software and so on it gets less and less.

Different units. The 698.32 is in "binary gigabytes" = 1024^3, but disk
drive manufacturers always use "decimal gigabytes" = 1000^3.

698.32 x 1024^3 = 749.82 x 1000^3

DiskUtility lists Total Capacity both in binary gigabytes and in bytes.
For example, it lists my 250 GB hard drive as follows:

Total Capacity : 232.9 GB (250,059,350,016 Bytes)
