Harddrive problem help please

Hi

My internal harddrive on my powerbook has failed, this fine as i have an external one. However my powerbook is always spining the internal drive which makes a very loud grinding sound. It can never read it, but never stops spinning it.

Does anyone know how i can make stop spinning

please help me mac rumorus as it is really loud, almost as loud as a Dell!!

replace it? or remove it entirly? if you havent gotten it fixed by apple im guess its out of warrenty and no one will care...
