Harpertown single-CPU upgradeable to dual-CPU?

Saw this ad on ebay for a single-CPU 2.8GHz Harpertown (E5462) and it goes on to say that you can easily add a second CPU. I've looked on everymac but could not determine whether the single-CPU model has in fact two sockets.

Anybody know about this? Thanks.

It does have two sockets. You will need to buy a heat sink as well which is part number 076-1303.

We Love Macs is Uber expensive.. You are better off with applecomponents.com - this is where I got my cheap 2010 mac pro backplane board and processor board.. They are more reasonable than WLM.

What did you pay for backplane and daughter board? The daughter boards alone cost 450, respectively $600 on applecomponents. Not necessarily "cheap".

I got those via my friend who works at AMA Systems in Columbia, MD.. He was able to get the parts at cost for me.. But also before the price hikes, the 2010 backplane board w/bluetooth and airport card was 250.00

The processor board was only 46.00

Yes, now because of the price hikes, the stuff has gotten to be more money.

Every Mac Pro 2008 has two CPU sockets. All you need is a second processor (SLANT series only, SLBBB won't work) and heatsink. It will work perfectly.

For all writing about daugherboard: Mac Pro 2008 containts logic board as one piece. Daughterboard's were started since Mac Pro 2009.

Every Mac Pro 2008 has two CPU sockets. All you need is a second processor (SLANT series only, SLBBB won't work) and heatsink. It will work perfectly.

OK, I did a google on SLANT and SLBBB but could not get a clear answer, nor on the Intel website. What exactly is the difference and how can you tell?

And I assume that the two processors need to be identical, right?
