Forever regret updating to 9, as a Snow Leopard user, As most of you will know it locks you out of iTunes and you can't update or back up in iTunes anymore, thanks to Apple's lack of bothering to tell anyone. A pop up before upgrade would've been nice....

Anyway.. I've still got only a number coming up in text alerts, and not the contact name. Has this been fixed yet, and if not, why not? Many complained about it.

And is battery still a shocker on 5S?

So judging from those threads, No, the bug is still there with 9.2. Nice one Apple. I don't think I've ever had so many problems with an iOS as this one, ever.

And as for the other thread, delete it and re-enter? It's every contact.

Surely, this was reported to Apple by thousands of people. What is so hard to get right. It was fine till this lousy 'iOS9'. As were many other things that used to work. I've never wanted to go back to an older iOS before, until now.

Judging from those threads it seems that a few people are impacted by it, but it's not something widespread in any way. It's hard to say where the issue is exactly too, with the latest iOS or perhaps with the data itself in some fashion. If you look back at previous version of iOS or really any other OS you will also come across various people having all kinds of problems with something or other, so it doesn't really make this iOS version really all that special/different in that respect.

True, but because I've not had as many different problems with any other one, ... I am in full moan mode. And as you know, I've lost my 5S/iTunes compatibility because of iOS9. So I extra hate it.

Thanks Eddy, there was a list of all those things to try to resolve this problem, and I did try a few of them, but still have the same problem.

I was able to reproduce this problem today. I went to text a friend of mine and his name showed up as usual but when he replied it came back as a number. I finally realized the name being displayed was from recents and that his contact did not actually exist in contacts. I re-added his name and it started working again as normal.

I have it with everyone who texts me. The alert just shows a number. Never a name

Snap. I've reported it on the public betas several times, as far back as July. And other people have mentioned to me it too, so it's not an isolated issue.
It doesn't seem to be isolated in the sense of only one person being affected, but it also doesn't seem to be widespread either. I wonder if it has something to do with contacts and perhaps them needing to be cleared and put back again somehow.

I've been seeing this problem since first release of 9, like you, so would be nice if addressed. Apple must know about it, widespread or not. Every update I expect it to be in the list of fixes..... Still nothing.

Also, Attachment pics in emails open then when you go back to email it won't open. Has that one been addressed or...? I've actually never had so many probs with an iOS before.

Have you tried any troubleshooting of these issues?

Yep. Nothing has cleared any of the problems I had with this iOS. In the past, the previous other iOS problems have all cleared themselves or rectified on updates. This is a first in all the years of iPhones for me
