Has any sites or groups tried dropping a Kentsfield into an iMac?

I just recently picked up another iMac, its a 17" Intel CD, for $599, our university bookstore is remodeling and is getting rid of all their old fixtures and computers. I've read many places where they upgraded Mac Mini's to have Merom, and the iMac is also capable of dropping in a new processor.

Have there been any reports of a successful drop of a Kentsfield Quad-Core processor inside an iMac? I see Quad-Core Kentsfield's going for around $750 and that doesn't sound too bad. My only guess would be a no because im sure that the Quad-Core would require a new cooling system. Any sites or information would be great pls.

I don't expect it is a pin-for-pin drop-in replacement for the C2D in the iMac, so it won't physically fit.

Thanks for the replies. I just found out my answer, and you're right the answer is no. iMacs, Mac Mini's and the portables use a mobile version of the CPU's, and Kentsfield isn't a mobile version.

There goes my fantasy of a Quad-Core iMac for now.

I dont think it will work. Since the Imac uses the mobile core 2 duos cpu. And the Core 2 Duo for desktop are also different sockets. Core 2 Quad is socket 775.
