I sometimes use my 12.9 IPad Pro (1st Gen) attached to a 16:9 27” external monitor using a HDMI to lightning adapter. Works fine except the aspect ratio does not match of course. Movies and videos in 16:9 are fine, but for general use you lose about a third of the display. So I have been looking at some 4:3 and 5:4 external displays on the web that can be had for pretty cheap. I was wondering if anyone had any experience doing this? All thoughts are appreciated....

A dedicated screen for occasional iPad use sounds like overkill to me. I've only ever connected with normal screens.
