My new iPP randomly just freezes up on websites. I’ll be scrolling and it’ll just stop and the whole website freezes up - can’t close it or anything.

My software is up to date, so that’s not an issue. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble at all.

At one time within the first days of use, scrolling became lagging for me, as if the touch screen took a second or two to register that I wanted to scroll. A restart resolved that for me, and I haven't noticed anything since.

Okay thanks. I’m kinda wondering if maybe it’s my dang screen protector, although I have never had a problem with screen protectors in the past.

Yes - I have encountered this problem. Seems to happen most (or at least I seem to notice it most) when using an external device, e.g. magic mouse, magic trackpad, or apple pencil. Once it starts though it will also happen when using touch input. Rebooting the device seems to fix it for a few days.

I’ve also noticed it’s all inputs that freeze up - not just scrolling etc. So I can be in the middle of typing, everything will freeze, and then the words I typed while it was frozen all appear ~10 seconds later.

I’m hoping that suggests it’s a software problem that can be fixed with a patch and not a dodgy unit :-(

13” IPP with Nano Texture here - in case anyone else finds this thread and is dealing with the same problem.

I've had this on an M2 Air, Safari just stops responding at times. Waiting to see if 17.6 clears it up.

I thought it was just me, I haven't been able to find many reports similar.

My current gen iPad Mini has a USB-C dongle plugged in that I use as a charger pass through and have a USB-C audio cord connected to. The past couple weeks, I can unlock it while it's plugged in still and everything is slower than molasis, even sliding the turn off button takes about 5 tries with a 15 second delay. Nothing responds.

I can reboot and leave it unconnected and it works perfectly.

Sounds like the screen protector is the culprit. That can happen with inferior protectors or if the protector is rising up off the glass.
it’s not your screen protector trust me! I have the iPad Pro 13 M4 with the eight giga ram and it freezes up on safari a lot of times I’ll go to open something. I’ve got multiple tabs open and the screen just blocks up so I have to fill with it to get it to go into, sleep mode when I turn it back on it usually works. I’m a little pissed off that I’ve spent 2500 bucks on this thing with the keyboard and the new pencil that does swizzles or something and I’m getting this kind of result. Also to anybody it has gotten better as a replacement for any sort of Mac that little dot cursor thing is wonky that best. I had a 60 day return to Best Buy. I think I might just return it. Other than having a beautiful image if you were to watch some one off high resolution image video it’s really no different than the 12.9 except it’s thinner which you don’t notice when it’s in a case. I’m a little pissed off!

Although I haven’t experienced any Safari freezing or OS freezing, I can certainly understand being ticked off after spending what we have for the new M4. I have the 13” 16GB RAM 1TB model.
