Has anyone bought a Mac for Windows, but moved to OS X

I'm guessing it was always Apple's plan - people who like Windows but like the look and status of a Mac are now catered for.

But how many people do you think have slowly moved over to OS X and pretty much ditched Windows altogether?

I still use Windows and OSX in equal amounts as they are both good for the things they do well.

Windows in bootcamp is my work machine and OS X is what I use at home.

I can't see that ever happening really. I'm a Windows server consultant by trade so I go into companies as a supplier and have to stick to their rules. I get enough grief for using a MBP in the first place and so I don't even bother asking them if I can hook it up to their network running in OS X mode. Plus I have a lot of tools that only have Windows versions and remote desktop for OS X doesn't have all the features I need.

I won't ever ditch Windows OS's. The fact that i work IT for most consumer PC's, Windows controls such a large span of businesses, consumers, government agency's, state and local departments, etc.

Windows WILL never go away, so in my perspective, i enjoy Mac OS's to the fullest extent. i personally love using Mac OS X on a daily basis, but i can't bad mouth or lose any knowledge with windows operating systems either.

So it's also a total 50/50 deal for me for both OS's. (i will say i've been using Mac OS X alot more for normal tasks. Unless i need to run windows for something in particular, i stay using OSX)

I use them both 50/50. Both of them do things that other cannot, so I use whatever I need at the time. I will most likely only buy Mac notebooks, seeing as Macs can use both Mac & Windows.

- There's nothing I need that is found in OS X only

In other words, there's no incentive for me to use OS X over Windows.

I pretty much use OSX for everything now. I only run WinXP in Parallels to update/backup my BlackBerry.

There's nothing I used to do in Windows, that I can't do easier and/or faster in OSX. It was hard to let old habits die at first but now I've crossed over.

I may try out Windows 7 when it comes out, just for kicks though.

my buddy bought the macbook air for the portability factor, put Vista on it. I begged him to give OSX a try for 1 week tops. Its been since november and he has yet to go back to Vista -zing-

Not quite, but one of our sound engineers has a few macs at work, a MBP on his desk and a mini in the TT24 digital FOH rack.

They've not run OS X since he bought them.

I bought this Mac (my first) knowing that I would never stop using Windows - it is necessary for the work I do, and there are Windows applications I have for personal use where there's no Mac equivalent (even though in a couple of cases there are Mac versions). I've recently become serious about learning digital photography, and I'm using the OS X solely for photo processing applications and related software. So far, I would say I'm in Windows about 75% of the time (alone or alongside Mac applications). I've discovered that there are a few things I like better in Windows (like Windows Explorer versus Finder, though I love the search box in Finder, etc). The downside is that I'm still spending a lot of time doing preventative maintenance in Windows (it is still after all, even on a Mac, "Windows"). The Mac side has been trouble free, which is what I was expecting. And three to four years from now when I'm ready to replace this machine with my second MacBook, migrating to the new one will be so much easier than what I've experienced with Windows.

I know that there are plenty of Mac and Windows zealots out there - fortunately I'm neither. I'm just very pleased to have one machine that provides the best of both worlds, for what I need and want it to do.

Well, this is a Windows on Mac section.

If it makes it sound any better, I'm currently in OS X typing this message. I kinda prefer using Transmission (not available on Windows) over uTorrent. Surfing is pretty great due to the multi-clutch functions.

I'm an application developer, so I have to use Windows for work, but use a Mac for everything else. I'll always have to use a Windows box for work because the software I write is for hospitals... unless I can convince over 300 hospitals to switch to Macs.

First I use OS X 90% of the time. That is why I have a mac. If I needed to run windows 100% of the time I would not by a mac. I own a MacPro and a MacBook Pro but I think hardware is the weakest link in the Apple chain. Sure they look nice but I think for windows at least you can do better in the price/performance area.

I've had my imac since december and totally love it - I wanted to boycott MS stuff totally and I tried really hard to too, but some programs (mainly windows messenger, ms money, frontpage and publisher) we just can't do without (as far as our business goes) and so over the last 24 hours I have had to buy windows vista and have boot camped it - also trying out vmware fusion too.

It will be so great to finally get rid of the bulky HP tower, keyboard and monitor and be able to everything on my iMac = awesome!

We just got our first iMac last weekend and, so far, we are using Windows almost 100% because my wife was working on a project, using a program that is only available for Windows, when our pc died; we are both looking forward to trying out the OS X side, especially the iLife programs.

You can run Adium to communicate with Windows Messenger contacts. For me, the biggest problem is that the only decent WYSIWYG HTML editor for Mac is Dreamweaver, which is $$$. I use Expression Web 2 on Windows which I got at an academic price for like $80. It has nearly all the features of Dreamweaver without the ridiculous Adobe premium.

I tried using Kompozer on Mac, but it's total crap.

Yep I use Adium all the time - the only problem I have with it - is for a video call. I have one windows contact that I converted to now use skype for video calls but I have another windows contact that does not get one with skype and so I can only have a video call with him on msn messenger via windows and not from my mac

I have also used expression web but its has a good few glitches.
I have today downloaded the trial of Dreamweaver but I have a problem with that too - when I press live view the program crashes it's driving me round the bend.
