I cant decide between the upcoming 5.4 inch and 6.1 inch non pro phone.

So I have a XR at the moment. I would like a smaller phone tbh but I'm worried id regret everything being shrunk down too much. For those that downgraded to smaller phones did it feel like a step back for you or was the trade off worth it? Was the difference in screen size that noticeable and did you find it harder to type on? I have quite fat fingers and have an SE1 for work. I find it impossible to type on as I'm used to the bigger size.

It's all personal preference. Only you know what you like. I just switched from the iPhone 11 to the new SE. I'm loving the overall size of the device way better. For my usage, the SE is perfect. You could get the total opposite opinion from 100 others who'll say they could never go smaller. Everybody is different.

I've gone back and forth over the years screen-wise. My eyes simply prefer the larger screens and I cannot go back I've decided. As for typing....honestly you should consider the 12 Pro Max. If you have fat fingers you will find it the best for typing if you use both thumbs. I absolutely love typing on my 8 Plus for this reason.

I had the iPhone X and while I didn’t mind that size, It was right at the max of what I would want. The weight was what got me. I’ve heard the 11 and the pros are even heavier. I got the SE a few weeks ago and love that form factor. I’ll be checking out the 5.4 inch one. That’s about the only one I’ll want to try

I have the iPhone 11 Pro and while I would love the SE's smaller size, I really enjoy the larger screen on the 11 Pro. It is so much easier for me to read and type on, so that is the form factor I am staying with.

I have an iPhone 7+ and like the screen size but then I got an iPad Mini 5 and wish I had the 7 instead of the 7+. If I upgrade to the 12, it will be the 5.4 inch for sure. I like to run and smaller phones are better for running shorts - less weight helps as well. If I need a bigger screen, I grab the iPad Mini.

I went from a an 11 pro Max down to just 11 pro. Seemed awkward at first. But I am getting used to it. And love it so far.

Every time I see 3G, 4S, and 5SE in the drawer, I wish I could go back to them from my 10 XR. Light, small. Granted, smaller fonts is an issue. Had the new SE 2020 been same size as before, I'd switch to it in a heart beat.

I switched from 7+ to my current X, I prefer the size of the X in hands and in pockets. Had the 6 and often use it without a case and also for the 7+, a smaller phone just feel so much better to carry around, I worked out the X is probably the largest size of phone I want to carry with.

It is nice to have a bigger screen especially if you often use your phone for gaming or media consumption, but if you already have an iPad then there are less reasons to go for a bigger phone.

Gone from 4 inch 2016 SE, to 4.7-inch Iphone 8, now to a 6.1 inch 11. I could never go below this size now I'm used to it; next phone will be minimum 6.1 inch but I'd consider the 6.7 inch if it can fit in my pockets.

To the OP; probably worth trying out the 5.4 inch when it comes out, and just giving it back and getting the 6.1 inch if you find its too small.

If the rumors are true and one of the new iPhones will have a 5.4” screen, I will trade my XR in for it. Only thing for me that will be tough to give up is the amazing battery life.

I think ive decided im going to go for the 5.4 inch. I use my iPad and MacBook at home so my phone is really just used for calls, messaging, music and the odd social media browsing.

5.4 inch is roughly the same as the old plus phones and they certainly didn't look small.

Not quite the same. The 5.5" iPhones had 16:9 AR, this 5.4" is around 2:1. Used in portrait, display is longer and narrower compared to the iPhone Plus.

This would be more like the 4.7" iPhones but with an almost all screen design.

I went from 8+ to 11 to 11 Pro (the smaller one, not 11 Pro Max). For me, it's the best compromise of size and features. 1-handed texting is something I prefer over balancing a massive screen phone and worrying it will fall. As I get older and my eyes are getting worse, I may need to go back to a larger screen at some point.

But really, a phone the size of the new SE but with a full screen like 11 Pro is my ideal phone.

yes, went from 11 to SE 2020. Its amazing to return to such a slim light phone:

My phone has to be able to drop comfortably into my pant pocket, anything too big to do that starts to seem like I’m lugging around an iPad. I had a 5S but reading the screen was becoming a strain, the X is perfect for me in that the screen is more easily readable and the form factor is still just small enough.

I bought a 11 Pro. A little too big for my one handed use and definitely too heavy to carry in my t-shirt pocket as I like to do. Also too heavy in general. So I returned it and kept my 8. No regrets.

I went from iPhone 6+ to X. The problem for me is that the X isn’t as wide as I’d like. So I’m planning on a bigger phone next time around. My hand cramps and I make a lot more typing mistakes on the X than I did on the 6+.

I have small fingers but I still have trouble typing on the SE. it’s just too small.
