It’s always been laggy in terms of catching up when rerouting when you miss a turn but lately it has been especially bad. I have an iPhone X running 11.3.1. I am used to the interface now so I don’t really feel like learning a new one.

I used Maps when it first came out, and after routing me to the wrong place a couple of times I swore it off and went back to Google Maps. Google Maps works great on the iPhone.

Stock maps has been fine for me for years. When you say laggy, maybe try updating the phone to see if whatever bug you have was ironed out already?

Best success!

I think it is terrible and inferior to Google Maps in every way. Don't understand why anyone would use it.

I just finished driving around for the Census and where I live I found Apple Maps to be better. Google Maps would be off by half a block in town while Apple would have me right in front of the house. I was using my SE2020 with Apple Maps comparing it with the Census Bureau iPhone 8 that was using Google Maps.
When I was out in the county Google Maps was off by a half mile at times. I liked Apples turn by turn directions better too. When called out street names where called out again to remind me.
Where I live Apple Maps gave me a heads up my turn was approaching and Google Maps didn’t tell me until I was about to drive by and I had to turn around.
Apple really stepped up their map game. I used both every day for the last two months. I sometimes used both spoken turn by turn just to compare them and the Apple was better.

Then there’s the privacy aspect of Google Maps. The few times I use it I use the website on private mode. I try not to use anything Google or Facebook.

I use Apple Maps pretty much every day and definitely every day Monday to Friday for a 35 mile each way commute to work. Tried both Google Maps and Waze at times but always go back to Apple Maps. Prefer the look of it, hasnt let me down in terms of routing etc and traffic etc is pretty accurate plus it integrates into the calendar for picking up destinations and how my phone learns where i go a lot etc to suggest routes. A lot of the time i dont even have to mess about choosing where i'm going as when i start Maps on CarPlay it suggests the correct destination. Used it in the UK, France and the US with no issues. The only time i didnt use it in the US was because we were up in the Hope Valley in California with no phone reception so i'd used the Offline Maps function in Google Maps to download a big chunk of map as i knew the hire car had CarPlay to use for navigation.

I really dont like the look of Google Maps and the usability of it via CarPlay and never really got on with Waze for routing etc. The user entered stuff on Waze is handy so sometimes i will start it so its running in the background and you get alerts from it over the top of Apple Maps as well. I have all three enabled on my CarPlay screen just in case but 99% of the time i'll use Apple Maps.

Well, any app that doesn’t bring me to the grasp of the worlds biggest ad company and their data mining is a win for me.
No problem with Apple’s Maps on my end, and for a long time at that.

Google used to have the motto Don’t be evil at their HQ but at one point they took it down.
