Just wondering how many people have gone for 512GB? For me it seems like the sweet spot in terms of storage; 1TB seems unnecessary for me, whilst perhaps 256 isn’t quite enough. That said, I hope the 4GB RAM doesn’t impact performance in the long run...

Yes I went for the 512gb as firstly it seemed stupid for my iPad to have less storage than my iPhone but also because I feel 256gb could quickly become not enough with loading music, movies & games like Civ6 along with my intended use case of editing RAW photos directly on the iPad when I can easily take hundreds in one shoot and can get lazy at culling them.

I did. I have the Gen 1 128 GB and it filled up faster than I could have imagined. I would like to start editing photos given the new apps in the pipeline so I went with more storage. As jaseone said, I wanted larger storage than on my iPhone, too. I could not get my head around that fact.

I have one on order. Can’t wait to start filling it up with goodies. I would have gone for the 1TB, but holy crap Apple

I went with 512gb.
Games, shows/movies, podcasts and photos can use up space quickly.

256gb on the phone because it's too small to watch shows/movies on.

we went for the 512 - my wife and I. Already expensive at that price - we didn't think that another 4400 each for 512 more of storage on the device made sense. We wanted max available but when prices were revealed, hard to get to that point.

I was really going back and forth. Especially since I loaded a ton of comic books in to Comic Zeal and ate about 80 GB. I use it for work but I also am a giant infant.

I went with 512gb as well, also for the photo editing use case. I want to be able to travel and backup/edit photos when I won’t necessarily have a great WiFi connection (I’m doing LTE as well, but I don’t want to *have* to upload everything via LTE).

I was considering it, but opted for 256gb in the end.

I'll be editing a lot of photos but the plan is to keep the device storage clean and move them to backups, only keeping the portfolio worthy images on the device is full res.

Thanks for the replies. I agree with others here who have said they wouldn't be able to imagine having the same/less storage than their phone - for some reason, it does feel strange. Whilst at the moment I do only have 64GB on my iPhone X, I could very easily see my storage going up to 128/256GB over the course of the next few years, and my iPad will still have more, with my Mac on top with 1TB.

Fair enough - that makes sense as well!

I went 512 as well. Annoyed about the ram, but I had already ordered and not that worried about it, performance should still be great.

I was seriously considering 512GB since I have 256GB on my 10.5” pro & Xs Max.

All my photos/videos/iMessage are in iCloud across all my devices. Also, I use Apple Music with quite a few albums downloaded though.

I use Plex for my movies.

I currently have 139.2GB free on the 10.5” Pro. iOS tells me I could offload another 33.98GB of unused apps.

256gb is plenty for me so I went with that again for the 12.9”. I could careless that it’s the same storage level as my Xs Max. That’s irrelevant.

512 here. I’m moving from a 10.5 with 512 and I’ve not had any issues with that capacity in the last year. 1tb was tempting, just to have twice as many tv shows on it, but really couldn’t square paying that much

Considered 256GB but decided it was worth $200 to double the storage space. It especially seemed like a good idea once I found out the USB-C connection didn't support external storage.

I did 512 ... no sense in spending 400 more for wasted space, unless I want to store another 50 movies in my iPad which is not necessary ...., I have 30gb free on a 256 iPad with 25 movies on it ... and hundreds of apps ... 1TB seems like next years deal
