Has anyone here modified their headphones to fit in the jack?

I have some Shure E2C's that don't fit in the iPhone headphone jack (like everyone else's headphones). I bought the Belkin adapter but I want to try and find a workaround. Does anyone know what kind of tools you could use to make them fit? I'm kind of clueless on this whole idea... I tried doing some searching around but I'm not quite sure what kind of tool you would need from the beginning.

Somewhere here yesterday I saw a pick of the piece shaved via razor knife. A bit crude (I'd have used a nail file to pretty it up myself),,, but if you search, you can find the pic.

I have a pair of Shure E3C's. I simply to an x-acto knife and cut about 1/16 of an inch off the end. They work perfectly now. Unless you look REALLY closely, you can't tell it's been modified. A bit different approach than making the plastic have a narrower diameter.

I'm not gonna do anything to my Shure E4Cs. They cost to much to be hacking up IMO. I'll just settle for the belkin adapter and get that Shure adapter when it releases.

Does anybody have the Apple Sport Case for the 1G shuffle? It came with a headphone extender to use with the shuffle since the case enclosed the shuffle and the headphone jack became recessed so 3rd party headphones wouldn't be able to fit.

This headphone jack extender works perfectly for the iPhone. I'm not sure why apple didn't want to include something like this for the iPhone when they did with an accessory for the shuffle.
