Is the Pixel phones still as speedy like the first day you had it out of the box?

My Pixel phone is just as speedy as when I bought it last year, but it is still relatively young.

I also have an iPhone 6s which is more than 2 years old and it is considerably slower compared to when I bought it. (Running iOS 11.2.1. Confirmed with Geekbench).

My wife has a Microsoft Lumia (more than 3 years old) it is just as speedy as when bought new, but the battery has to be charged much more often (which is normal after 3 years). Luckily the battery of the Lumia is user replaceable.

I think you should educate yourself on the matter instead of talking nonsense.
No, I don't live in a cave, you, however, live in a cave of ignorance. Please educate yourself on the matter then comment.

Wow, a little less arrogance, and a little more respect to others please. You don't own all the wisdom in the world you know.. This is a forum about consumer devices and not a religious war. Other MacRumors members are not your enemies.

Wonder why you selected a certain point of view to pick on...

Oh so it's just iPhones that slow down eh?

I was not selecting a certain point of view, because I could not find any. There where only terms like 'You should educate yourself' and 'talking nonsense' without any substantiation or reason why. In my opinion that is arrogance and/or disrespect to someone who is making a valid point (of course your point of view may differ ;)).

Sorry to say, but yes in my case it is only the iPhone 6s slowing down.
The Pixel is too new to tell.
The Lumia's battery needs recharging much more frequently now (after 3 years), but there is no speed loss or unexpected shut downs. I just ordered a new battery online (for around $20) and can replace it myself.

Not pixel since I'm on my first one but my Nexus 6 on 7.1.1 is laggy and stuttery at times. Like almost Samsung-esq

Some of this is probably due to the system trying to catch up after sleeping.

But it's an old modified device.

It was not about the point of view, because there was no point of view. There where only terms like 'Please educate yourself' and 'talking nonsense' without any substantiation or reason why. In my point of view that is arrogance :)

All good. Just wondered why you didn't also quote this bloke, who triggered that exchange...
Never in the history of cell phone as you use more it gets slower delibertately, only the famous iphone can do it. What an honor. Let this be a lesson to them.

Anyway, moving on....it's unfortunate your 6s has slowed down. Will you be replacing the battery?

If the Pixels stays strong, then that's another plus for what I consider the greatest Android phone out now (2 XL).

Well, I thought the bloke I quoted started it, but strictly spoken, you are right. Mea culpa

The battery of the iPhone 6s will indeed be replaced since Apple made us an offer we can't refuse for that price.

I hope the Pixel stays strong. We'll have to wait and see..

I have a 2016 Pixel.

It was bought right at release. I have no reason to replace this phone. Speedy. Good size. Battery life is good. Charges really fast. Photos are fantastic. My wife often has me take the 'critical' photos of friends and family. Her 6 photos were outright aweful. Her brand
new 8 plus is much better, but still 2nd place to my older Pixel.

Wow, the oldie is still a goodie. That’s amazing because the 8 Plus has an excellent camera. But it does tend to blow out highlights. I’m surprised nobody at Apple has noticed and rolled out a fix for that.

Obviously you have never owned an Android device. They are horrible about getting slower over time. The Pixel may be the exception but every Android phone I have ever had needed to be completely reset at least every 6 months to get it back to where it was when purchased performance wise.

Edited. My apology. I missed where you tried to say deliberately. But still, they get horribly slow over time because of Google's junk.

Also, there is no battery gate. Apple did the right thing in slowing the phone to make it more stable as the battery aged. Where they went wrong was not telling people. Of course Apple haters like you have closed minds so I am sure you will continue your ignorance about the issue.

I am using Android device because years of Apple 'poison' made me sick to the stomach. At this modern age forget about loyalty.

Google junk? Lol you do realize it's other manufacturer skins that usually causes slow downs because they are so resource heavy...well in the past. Why do you think the pixel phone remains fast when it has the "google junk" on it.

Most Androids with a light skin placed on top of Android don't usually have slow down issues unless you're running out of storage. Notable manufactures much as HTC and Motorola.

I can almost bet you probably had a Samsung or a LG. Even worse if it was one of those manufacture phones from 2 years ago or older.

I've been buying family members that don't do much on their smart phones some Motorola phones from 2014 and 2015 (bought 3 mid last year). They are all snappy except the moto x play from 2015 because my sister thinks taking 30 pictures per day is normal. She can't even update her phone because she doesn't have enough memory lol. Once she gives me to free up the storage then the speed returns to normal.
