I think it is more of a placebo effect than anything else. I felt iOS 4 was fast when I first installed it on my 3G. You all know how that turned out! Very soon I had to throw my 3G in the trash because it became borderline unusable with its lag. So I am going to reserve judgement at present. All I am going to say is iOS 5 runs smooth on my iPhone 4 for now.

No, I actually do think it's snappier, particularly in Safari.

Mine seems slightly zippier.
Mine too, especially when browsing through my over 3500 pictures. I think part of it is just the restore process that was used, which wipes all the data and writes it again. I think that puts everything in order on the flash so it isn't randomly reading from all over when doing things like browsing pictures.

Yup, I was slightly surprised to notice the same on my iPhone 4. The device feels very responsive overal, good job on that one :)

Not add another "me too", but yeah. Notably actually. I was ready for a bit of a slow down, and willing to accept it, but honestly, everything seems to run a bit quicker, and more smoothly.

As a side note, my Lion update went great, phone update great, migration from Mobileme to iCloud worked perfectly, and I was VERY happy to see an Aperture update when I was done with all that, LOL. (Even THAT is running quicker on my old 2.8Ghz iMac now)! :D

I'm happy that they ironed out all the animation stutters and now app launches show the complete animation. Before, it was a hit or miss.

Always smooth all the time now.

Mine seems so fast, I renamed it "Zippy"!!!!

JK, but seriously, it does seem to run smoother. Except Safari seems to be hanging up sometimes.
