Has anyone replaced the plastic on their Macbook?

I've had problems with my macbook staining where my wrists rest and where my finger clicks the trackpad, and i know a lot of others have had this problem, too. I looked up some posts on this and apple replaces the plastic with new plastic that won't stain. They sent me the box today to ship it in, but before i ship it, i want to see what the new plastic is like - is it a lot different than the original or different at all? Have any of you all replaced the plastic yet due to staining issues? Thanks!

I don't get it. You are weary of Apple replacing the stained plastic with plastic that isn't an exact replacement?

Umm, I would have to put this thread in the 'don't worry about it so much' pile. Of course Apple with replace the plastic with the exact plastic that it is supposed to have. You aren't going to get a green piece of plastic as replacement like mismatched car parts.

ok definetely wasn't expecting green plastic. i just wanted to see if there were any differences in the texture or anything noticeable on the new plastic. i was wondering if it was different because it's supposed to prevent staining unlike the other plastic, so there must be some difference, or maybe not. i don't think that's such an unreasonable question and i didn't expect a response like that. last time i ask a question on here.

Sort of sad we cannot get you like the Orange, Green, or Blue like you want.

Probably a different material, altered process, or a combo of the two.

Alright, relax, my dear, relax.

Firstly, don't get stressed out by the first response you get in a thread. It could be by anyone, and replying aggressively will only put off anyone else replying.

However, I agree with GimmeSlack12 to some extent. The plastic that Apple replace it with it is supposed to have solved the staining problem. This makes it a far better solution than your current situation, which is being stuck with a manky looking stained MacBook. Therefore, getting it replaced by Apple under warranty is a Good Thing™. It's also a Good Thing™ that your MacBook is still well within its warranty, and so if the new solution is wrong, it can also be rectified.

As for specifics of the plastic, hopefully someone will be along to give you this information. I've heard that it does seem to have a texture that, although minimally different from the original plastic, does seem much less prone to staining. Obviously only time will tell about this.
