I was thinking about calling Applecare since my backlight is super bright at the bottom of the LCD and I have two dead pixels.

Has anyone else had any problems?

Do you have to ship your laptop back before they ship a replacement out? I've never sent a computer back to apple before, so I'm not quite sure how it works. I'm not sure how likely they are to replace the LCD as opposed to replacing the whole laptop... I really don't want to reinstall XP, etc, on a new laptop.

Thanks.

lol, bottom being brighter is normal, 2 dead pixels aren't enough for u to get a replacement.

Oh come on! 2 dead pixels would bug the s*** out of me...Exchange it for a new laptop...You don't want to have two red dots when u are watching movies or have a dark wallpaper...
LOL, im not trying to discourage you, but no laptop maker would replace a laptop for <6 dead pixels, its just...... well, you can try for yourself.

True, dead pixels are quite the norm on lcd, plasmas, HDTVs and various types of slim screens. You can try of course and let us know, and yes it would bug me as well since since we spend thousands on the computers. I know if my Core2 MBP I ordered came out, I'd be in the same mood.

I was able to return my CD MBP and got a refund, bought my new C2D MBP online that day. My LCD was getting these vertical and horizontal lines all across the screen (even though the Genius didn't see them) and the LCD wouldn't turn off completely when it slept. So it was labeled DOA, the Genius didn't hesitate and I would not have sent it in for repair if the new C2D wasn't released (well I would have but not that day).

Are you within 14 days? Their return policy specifically says that they will charge you the 10% unless it is "defective." So if you can get the Genius that 2 dead pixels constitutes a defective MBP.

You can't do that over the phone. Your only hope is to take it in to the store.

If you purchased the system online from Apple, can you take it in to a local apple store to return and/or repair it?

Only thing I've had happen is the problem I've heard of with the MagSafe light on the adapter itself not turning on when the MBP is off. Any word on this problem yet?
