I.wish I could offered to pay full price or have a job to.get me one full price. Unlike phones. But they do pay for my travels which I have been doing extensively. I just wanted to know if anyone had success sim unlocking their ipads who are in a similar situation as me? Thanks.

The physical Nano SIM slot is always unlocked (technically) even on carrier branded iPads in the US. You can just pop in any working SIM on that and it should just work.

The eSIM is sometimes limited. On my Verizon-branded iPad Air 3, it’s simply unusable. Only way to add a plan is via QR code but it pretty much rejected every non-Verizon QR code I tried. Verizon seems to have added eSIM support to the iPads at least with the 2021 iPad Pros though.

Have you actually tested if your iPad is SIM locked?

? My iPads have always been SIM unlocked and came in full price. Our carriers here are not that interested in iPads. And anyway the law in my country banned SIM locking since 1996 (!)

Wow you are totally correct lol. I hadn't tested it until now with a tmobile sim and works :) and I was about to pay a company money to have it unlocked smh but you are right again. The esim is locked. Thanks so much!!!

What’s the point of having a SIM Unlocked 2021 iPad Pro ?
To use two carriers whether they be US based or international as I travel a whole lot for work. It's also an easy way to compare carrier coverage just the same as phones that support esims.

Forget about esims. Some att reps are clueless as to how to utilize the apple embedded sim whether it be customer service or store reps. I even showed them proof via Google and Apple chat support that it can be activated. They gave me some bs story as to why my ipad pro 9.7 1st gen which has an embedded sim isn't what it seems to be.

But I do have a hunch that even the esim is unlocked as when I first got my ipads and checked in settings/cellular data it displayed a few carriers including AT&T but when I had the Verizon esim activated it went to Verizon or other. I could be wrong.

I finally met with a knowledgeable store rep who almost quickly pointed out that my problem was that the physical sim was prepaid and he said it couldnt used with a postpaid line on the same ipad using the embedded sim.
