What error messages?

Did you jailbreak 3.0beta2 and install openSSH from Cydia ?
If not, then there's your answer.

I recommend staying away from SSH as much as possible. Instead (if you're on Windows), just use the Total Commander + T-Pot method. You get great transfer speeds and you don't have to worry about enabling SSH or anything like that.

SSH has just never been fast for me under any circumstance. I don't really see a need in SSH if we have these tools that don't need SSH to be installed/enabled.

There is no Cydia for 3.0 yet, it comes with something called Icy which is a lighter weight APT client. This is the error:

Code:
$ ssh root@iphone
root@iphone's password:
dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: _login
  Referenced from: /usr/sbin/sshd
  Expected in: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
