I read a number of posts where individuals were lucky enough to switch a Magic Mouse for the Magic Trackpad in the physical Apple Store. I believe in every case I read, the Apple Store simply let them keep both instead of ripping open the iMac box, removing the Magic Mouse, and throwing in a Magic Trackpad.
Can everyone who successfully managed to make the switch post the country they are from (in case Apple retail operates differently in other countries) and whether they were simply given an extra Magic Trackpad or if they took the Magic Mouse out of the box?
The reason I ask is because when I called, they told me that I had to order it online for the Magic Trackpad. But then I mentioned how I simply wanted to purchase the iMac in store without having to wait a couple of days. After speaking to their manager, they came back saying it is something they will be able to accommodate.
I'm wondering if this is a secret unspoken rule that Apple is allowing? My phone call was to the Staten Island, NY (USA) Apple Store.
