Edit:. I just read up on this, what a disaster

I just heard this mentioned on a podcast, the guy who is doing it is the former ceo of Pebble so I am sure this has money and support behind it. I use an android phone but have an iPad, if I could just use imessage this would be great

I have the same set up. I have a cellular iPad.. so it‘s not a big deal whether or not I have iMessage on my Android phone, I can still receive it on the go.

My issue with it.. is that it cost 10 bucks monthly, which doesn’t serve my purposes if it cost money. I’m paying monthly cost on the cellular plan for the iPad. If they removed the cost factor, I’ll give it a try. But I tried um... AirMessage (when I had a Mac) and its been updated too, it looks nice. And then there’s BlueBubbles... I haven’t tried that yet. But the mechanics of Beeper is all is just disappointing. I believe they will give you a jailbroken iPhone in order to get it to work.

I wish there was a simple method to get iMessage on Android, but Apple has tightly controlled that feature.. for which they have every right to do so. But I think Beeper problem is that it’s trying to put cost behind their service... and I think Apple will try to go after them.

I signed up but haven’t received an invite to try it yet. I have always said I was willing to pay a monthly subscription fee for iMessage on an Android (although I would much prefer it be from Apple) but I’ll give this a try.

How long ago did you sign up for it? I think it’s DOA.. tbh. Perhaps they trying to find some investors or enough people to sign up for it to determine if it can be legit..

Beeper reminds me of Trillian with it's collecting all your messaging in one place. @mclld was that the AC podcast? Just from listening to them it sounds like a non-starter for me.

If it was the AC podcast - did you go find the essay Jerry wrote on his family issues? Very moving. I usually browse the forums there, but the articles of his that I've read I've really enjoyed...

I signed up about 2 weeks ago. I get that a it won’t be for a lot of people but I use 4-5 different chat apps daily. I think it would be nice to have all of those conversations in one location with the additional benefit of having iMessage on my Android.

It’s an awesome idea, no doubt about it. I would love to support it as well.. however, I don’t use that many chat apps. I mainly use iMessage tbh. And I would love to have it on Android, I would pay $5 max monthly.

But 4-5 different chat apps daily?? How does that even work?

I use Teams (2x really, I work as a contractor for a company both that company and my direct employer use Teams), Slack, Hangouts and Discord. Each has their purpose. I also use Messages (Google's texting app, I use a Pixel 4a 5G).
