Hi all,

I have the rev. B and beta build 10a354. How does it perform? Worth installing? Does it solve any of the performance issues without the need of coolbook?

Lastly, can it be upgraded or do I need to do a clean install?

It performs great.. just keep in mind a lot of utilities, like istat, do not work on snow leopard yet.

Awesome, thanks! Trying not to sound stupid lol but does windows live messenger, mail, itunes, vlc, skype, iphoto, and safari work ok with it? if you don't have these apps and thus don't know, thanks anyway :)

Keep in mind dannster that you have a beta copy. As such it's not ready for prime time. If you're really wanting to try it out, install it on an external first. :)

All of those apps work fine and much faster than before (except Messenger , that's slow as usual). However, you might want to wait till the 10A380 build releases which is a near final release. 10A354 is fine, but anything before that was a buggy mess.

Leopard works fine on my RevA. No reason why SL won't work fine, either. In fact, the air should run even faster on SL.

Awesome thanks :) It took days to download 354 via public torrent and just as it was on about 98% 380 was leaked!!! Good one!

However, I'm a fool. I thought I had the rev.B cos I bought my 1.8Ghz like a week before the rev.B's were released but infact I just have the rev.A. I've been reading about this https://www.macrumors.com/2009/06/1...ardware-acceleration-and-opencl-requirements/ and not sure if it means installing snow leopard will benefit me at all? I don't understand in detail all the technical details but does installing snow leopard on the rev.A just mean you'll save 6GB of space??

I have the Rev.A as well, and even though your computer won't be able to take advantage of OpenCL, Snow Leopard still makes it fast. Everything about the computer is simply smoother, silkier and snappier.

Unfortunately, it doesn't solve some of the original issues that MBA Rev.A users are plagued with. The fans will spike up- especially when watching video- HD video occasionally stutters, and worst of all CoolBook isn't compatible with Snow Leopard yet!

I wouldn't install even the latest beta as main system (10a380)
I'm having kernel panics all around the globe and apps freeze much to often.

Still, if everything goes as planned its a much faster system!
