Has anyone tried to put pads on the inside lid of a macbook ?

.. to try and stop the hard plastic-hit-plastic when you close the lid? I believe this causes most of the cracks/damage that people have seen with their macbooks. the macbook has 2 horizontal bars on the lcd pannel, but it's hard plastic!

Other companies have done the same with their devices. E.g. my Motorola razr has black rubber feet on the inside to stop the top/bottom from slamming into each other.

Looks a bit better than those green felt pads.

Though they do make quite a lot of feet/pads so you can likely get something similar to the link for a few dollars.

Keep pads away from warm spots so that the heat doesn't mess up the glue.

The RadTech pads (Wildeepz) work great, despite being a *bit* overpriced IMHO. I purchased a set for my 15" G4 PowerBook when I bought it, and luckily, the extra pads are the correct ones for the MBP, so I scored for both machines.

They do a good job of keeping the lid aligned on the PowerBook, but I'm not as happy with them on the MBP. I'm not sure if it's a manufacturing issue or a result of my Speck hard shell cover, but the MBP lid is not parallel to the bottom case when closed. The gap is small, maybe a couple of millimeters at most, but it's not consistent across the width of the lid - that's the part that troubles me.

Also, I always keep the 15" G4 PowerBook in a RadTech Sleevz, which holds everything together tightly. That might make a difference in the fit and finish of the MBP if I used a Sleevz on it.
