I got a recent message from Chase saying that ATMs now support contactless for logging in to withdraw cash, etc...

But when I tried it didn't work. It didn't even pop up Apple Pay at all.

Has anyone gotten this to work? Are they not done with the rollout yet? It'd be so convenient to be able to use Chase ATMs with Apple Pay, not to mention more secure.

I don't have checking account at Chase, but I imagine their rollout is at a similar stage as Wells Fargo's. About half of their ATMs have so far been upgraded to support NFC. Did you see the NFC symbol on your ATM?

The main advantage from my perspective is that I don't have to carry my debit card (which I never use for anything else but withdrawing cash). BTW, you can still withdraw money at ATMs that haven't been upgraded yet by requesting a code via the bank's app (both WF and Chase have this functionality).

It may also be that the NFC reader on the ATM wasn't turned on yet - they just upgraded the PNC one near work and none of the lights around the NFC panel are lit up.

A gas station nearby also has NFC readers on the pumps and they're off, too. The same model is on another gas station and enabled, so I know how they should look/work.
