All of Apple's most recent product releases have been either white, gray, or black -- whether they be desktops, laptops, or handhelds. The only products that still come in color are the iPods (sans the iPod touch).
So my questions are: A) has Apple completely abandoned color? and B) if they have, is it the right choice?
I remember when Apple released the first iMac with colors, and then the PowerMac. People thought it was pretty cool and the prettiness and variety drove a lot of people back to Apple.
However, I think all the colors and translucent plastics had a downside as well. I think a lot of people saw the products as being almost "too cute" and unprofessional.
It seems to me that Apple's product line today is trying to strike a balance between elegance and beauty while at the same time looking professional. The products are still pretty, but they aren't as playful as they used to be. What do you think?
