The rumor mill is getting excited claiming that unreleased macbooks are showing up in the benchmarks and an m2pro MBP is just around the corner. To me that sounds like theyre implying it will be released in March.

But guys, has Apple ever even released a MBP in March?

Apple tends to release certain products during certain months when it has its events. Have they released MacBook Pros in March or even May in the past?

highly doubt it, if anything iphone would get the new 3nm node first before being passed down to ipad and macs. i do not see apple not prioritizing their iphone cash cow since it represents 50% of their revenue.

Not so often, but they have done four times in May and one time in March:

May 2020
13" MacBook Pro

May 2019
13" & 15" MacBook Pro

May 2015
15" Retina MacBook Pro

March 2015
13" Retina MacBook Pro

May 2006
15" MacBook Pro

Ah thanks thets a lot more may than I thought. If I had to guess I’d guess May

Apple releases when it’s ready. Whether it’s January, February, or March isn’t relevant. When was the last time Apple launched a new iPhone in October? Naysayers didn’t think it would happen. But it happened in 2020.

Check out the wiki: Timeline of Apple Inc. products Just doing a search On March nets 95 occurances, so it does appear throughout Apple's history they have released products.

Will they release a MBP this March? That's the question, and no we don't know. If I was a betting man, I'd put money on the April through June timeframe simply because that seems to be the windows when Apple prefers to launch. Given that the M2 MBPs are more or less a spec bump, they may just get a silent update, i.e., no media event.

If you have a need now, then I suggest get it now, reports seem to peg the M2 to be about 10 to 18% faster, but less efficient on the battery and more importantly, more expensive. People are fully expecting price increases with this model, particularly outside of the US. It may make more sense to buy the M1 now and not only enjoy it now, but save money doing so
