In early 2017 we already knew what the redesigned iPhone was going to look like. And throughout the year we got iPhone part leaks.

This year however there haven’t been any iPhone leaks compared to previous years. 3 months away from September and the only news we’ve gotten is the occasional analyst predictions. Pretty interesting.

Has Apple finally gotten control of the leaks?

We’re only two months away from the reveal based on the usual pattern.

Usually a lack of leaks signify that there’s simply nothing to get excited about.

Id say we have a good idea of what to expect based on the leaked CAD renderings and analyst predictions as to what the phones look like

Sure there have been not too many part leaks or pics but as far as what these phones will look like, I think we know what to expect with the LCD iPhone resembling the OLED models, having one camera instead of two and having slightly thicker bezels

You're right regarding as many part leaks but I really feel like it's "par for course" this time of the year

FaceID, Animoji, and removing bezels/adding a notch were big changes last year. Other than getting the Plus version of the X and the LCD update (with colors?) to the 6-8 line this year, I don’t know what else “exciting” Apple will introduce this year with the iPhone lineup. 2019 will probably have more hardware/software features.

As it is currently, I see more posts concerned over pricing for this year’s coming lineup more than anything else. Now if there were some leaks from marketing or finance showing a breakdown on retail pricing for the models... I could sit back with popcorn and enjoy the chaos.

All the hardware that surfaced last year was identifying a new iPhone that we were expected to see in fall 2017. This year, what’s the point of leaking the same hardware that we are expected to see again, being that smart phones generally don’t overhaul on an annual basis. I’m assuming this year will be camera upgrades, Face ID and Augmented reality improvements, of course the larger 6.5 iPhone X Plus and the 6.1 LCD iPhone. Plus, anything can happen yet, as production I believe occurs right about this time frame and through August, which we could still see more potential leaks for the iPhone.

Maybe it’s not exciting but I’d expect at least the 6.1 to leak considering it’s *allegedly coming in new colors.

Like the iPhone 5C, all the colors leaked way before it was announced.

Yeap, the have definitely locked the leaks down! Not one can leak, we had the iPhone X full body assembled months before it’s release.
We’ve had a possible LCD screen component and that’s it bar the analysts rumours, and renders and case designs.

Not sure what OP is talking about.

We have the reliable Ming-Chi Kuo telling us nearly everything about the models this year. Same thing last year, we received confirmation from him about nearly everything related to iPhone X.

Parts leaks are always far riskier than info leaks. With Kuo's reputation, part leaks are nice to have but unnecessary.

Kuo doesn't need to pay thousands of dollars for a smuggled part when he already has supreme credibility.

It's like all the other "s" cycle years. There's no expected re-design, so there's nothing much to leak except information.

Like the iPhone 5C, all the colors leaked way before it was announced.

New color additions is actually a huge marketing tactic for the iPhone 6.1 LCD if that is true. Consumers generally want to find a color that appeals to them, and then by Apple introducing a new cheaper alternative LCD iPhone with new colors with in gold, blue and red as rumored with Face ID, I think this phone will do really well.

I’ve always got the impression Apple deliberately leaked pictures to encourage interest but this year there’s been very little by comparison to other years. The rumours don’t suggest anything particularly groundbreaking though. A bigger and more expensive iPhone X variant and a huge LCD iPhone with a few familiar features removed. Maybe they want to surprise us for a change rather than everybody knowing in advance?

There is nothing exciting about this year iPhones compared to last year. We pretty much know it all so no point leaking parts. An LCD iPhone with no 3D Touch and an inferior display to the current LCD iPhone. The iPhone X will get a spec bump and a better FaceID sensor and a price reduction. The X Plus will be the Plus edition and get all the usual Plus exclusive stuff like more ram and battery etc.

Honestly if that’s all Apple is going to do to the upgraded X, no thanks. Face ID unlocks my phone pretty quickly. It can always open up faster, but I honestly don’t care. Also, for a lot of people, the 6.5 would just be too big for one handed use. 5.8 is perfect for me but everyone is different with what they like and look for. The 6.1 model would a smart move for Apple since I’m sure there are a lot of people who want the X but can’t justify paying that much, or even $40-45 a month to finance, to think any phone is worth that much. If a 6.1 will be around $800, they would sell that better than the X. Yes, the X has sold really well but they’ll sell the crap out of the 6.1, too. Especially, like someone mentioned, if they have different colors that they usually don’t offer.

Didn't the major iPhone leak come from the HomePod leak? the Notch was the biggest find from that

No, there's just nothing coming from Apple worth leaking these days.

Which is a good. Last August, weeks before the Keynote, it was rampant for leaked information, as information was released about the iPhone and Apple Watch direct from the HomePod code. I would rather be fully surprised, as it makes it more intereting Versus something we were already expecting in last years Fall Keynote.

That was one of the many leaks. The design was leaked around April or may last year.

Yeah last years was pretty boring as we already knew everything about it.
