I'm leaning into getting the first mbp. But has Apple fixed the whining issue and the heat buildup?? I did not want to look into the forums. Anyways I will be getting the applecare program so that would help. Thank you for any help you people can provide.

Just keep in mind that the problems you hear about come from an extremely vocal minority. Not every MBP that came off the line was defective. In fact most were not. If you get one of the later revs (when they introduced the glossy screen) you will have a better chance of getting a solid machine.

I ordered mine as soon as they were released so I probably have one of the earliest ones they made, coconut identity further identifies as mine being assembled between 20-27 oct. if memory serves right. I've had absolutely no problems at all. It doesnt get hot at all and runs dead silent on top of being extremely fast. The only issue I've witnessed so far is that wireless reception is CRAP in Windows and I cannot use Coconutwifi anymore without the wireless getting screwed over. However the wireless signal strength doesnt randomly drop, if you leave it alone it stays constant. It does however fluctuate a lot in Windows. Could be a faulty wireless card, could be the new n-compatible cards they put in. It doesn't seem to affect Internet speed at all so I just kinda ignore it.
Sure it's a minority here but there's still something to it. All my friends with macbooks have the known problems with them, buzz, RSD, extreme heat. I just don't find them very stable when I actually experience problems with every single one of them.
I think this thread died off too quickly as many people are probably wondering this. Do the new MBPs have the whine or moo? I know some people have reported them to be trouble free, but as more people get them in their hands it would be nice to see confirmation of this. I think we can safely say they run much cooler at this point.

My 2.33ghz C2D MBP arrived today and so far i've spent most of the past 12 hours using it, installing apps and setting up Windows in Parallels.
While it does get 'warm' and fans because audible under load, nothing I have experienced so far could be deemed excessive. In fact, this is one of the quietest notebooks i've heard and at idle, it's basically silent. It's certainly a lot quieter than the Lenovo Z60m it is replacing.
No mooing with my C2D 15" MBP (2.33 Ghz stock model). It seems as hot as my PBs were (which is not a big deal). I think Apple fixed that problem with this rev B MBP. I simply could not go for Core Duo MBP and my patience has paid off, I believe.
I have a week 38 macbook (not mbp, i know) that just started magsafe whining yesterday, and about 2 weeks ago developed a CPU whine.. It's really ****ing annoying.. Does anyone know if Apple will rectify the problem? I really didn't pay close to $2000 (canadien) for something that is going to buzz all day..
If it is a buzzy AC adaptor, I heard other people got an exchange at the Apple Store. If it is buzzing all day, it should be replicated at the Apple Store and Apple will replace it with a new one (as long as it is under 1 year standard warranty), I think.
I had a week 40 MBP that I returned as the C2D MBP annoucement was on day 12 of my ownership. It ran warm, but not hot, made no noise at all, and had no dead pixels. If C2D announcement would have happened on day 15 of my ownership I'd have been very happy with the machine I had.
