My eyes now feel MUCH MUCH more comfortable with my MacBook pro retina, very surprised.
The gamma is set to 1.3(from the default 2.2) to soften the black contrast and night shift is on, but I doubt that contribute much to the cause, I have a feeling that Apple finally increased the "Hz's" of the PWM rate of the panel through the latest system update, I could very well be wrong because I have found nothing yet to confirm it, but my eyes have absolutely no problem now on this MacBook, the PWM flicker thing which has haunted me for so long seems gone, COMPLETELY.
It feels like a lighted paper sheet, comfortable and "soothing" to look at , with the brightness now set to 3/16, very low actually.
Anyone feels the same, just want to make sure I'm not crazy...
