I read so much rumors about iMac, and future products etc etc. But nothing happens from Apple these days except delays on products that should've been out..not updates and no tuesday updates, no info, nothing.
I'm starting to feel like a stupid fanboy that hasn't realized it's time to give up

Oh, you're not a fanboy. I think everyone lately has been worried about the lack of updates from Apple.

I don't think they're "taking a holiday" so much as working on something big. And Steve isn't taking a holiday either- he has a note from his doctor.

Nevertheless, I think that the next major happenings from Apple will be all-updated desktop systems (Mini, iMac, and Mac Pro). If you've noticed, they don't necessarily release "new products" every time... they just update what they have. It's stupid for a company to simply release a new product when an old one gets outdated- Microsoft can tell you about that.

I really hope you are right though - full line update would be great, but I'm sceptic - rumors have circulated a long time now.
When I say new products, I did mean updates of the current models, which are really missing a refresh. I have money ready and I really want an iMac, but not the current specs, knowing something new is around the corner....but for how long will it be around the corner??? Seems like all rumors about new stuff comes from that Shaw Wu guy who is famous for making bad analysis, maybe it's not around the corner at all...who knows, maybe they will start reproduce the old iMacs. Apples secrecy is probably a good thing business wise, but like the mac mini really are so old now that holding secrets really don't apply as a good thing anymore, because those who buy it now don't pay attention to what you get for the money, and the rest of us aren't stupid enough to buy it at its current state.

I agree with you. Apple's secrecy isn't making customers feel very happy. For example, there's probably 100 people who will buy an iMac this week, and a month from now comes this amazing new iMac (new processor, faster RAM, better video card), and the ones who just bought this [now oudated] unit are S.O.L. Although the Macrumors Buyer's Guide helps a bit, it's only about 30% accurate. I mean, the Mac Mini "Coming Soon" text has been there for years now.

This is a huge problem with the Mac market vs PC's.

PC vendors such as Dell and Sony etc pretty much release new machines inline with new processor and graphics cards. No waiting really. When i7 chips came out, and GeForce 285 cards... you could place an order for a Dell or another PC brand there and then.

Same for people who build their own (like me).

Not so true for a mac user (also like me). We may never actually see an i7 chip in a mac. The mac pro's will get the upcoming Xeon variant which means 98% of people who want a standard desktop cant afford them.

The iMacs will stay with laptop technology which means it will never have a truly modern and advanced graphics card worthy of competing with a gaming PC.

So in some ways it really sucks to be a Mac owner. Apple updates their products ever 500+ days in some cases. If it wasnt for their OSX operating system and style factor, they would be washed up by now.

They are the only computer company on the planet that can get away with selling 500 day old technology at full price.... (eg. the best conventional graphics card that the top end mac pro can have is an 8800 GT... ancient by PC standards)

Just imagine how much extra $$ they would have if they updated more.

So I will wait patiently again for what will probably be over priced old tech by the time it comes out.

Apple will most likely be releasing the full computer line upgraded within the next 5 months. It will most likely happen with/around the new OSX, and the computers will work better with the new OS. Just wait or buy a PC or buy a current mac, but all this whining is just ridiculous.

I think it's good that Apple doesn't release a new update every two months. They can take a little 'Time Out' with releasing updates. Don't do half things.

In PPC times, they updated once or twice in two years... i don't see what problems you've got with that.

Or is the main problem most of you, that your friend has a Core i7 in his PC, with the newest Dual GPU Radeon or GeForce card and you have not (or cannot have) the same components in your Mac?

Computers were once made for work. Not for playing. Yet, today it seems, the main functions of computers is the entertainment etc. Humm...

The funny thing is that some people have actually been waiting for an iMac update since last October (there was supposed to be one in early November ), personally I don't think that whatever is coming is worth the wait. Of course there is a great chance of the 9xxx series of graphics chips in the new imacs, but that's only useful if someone intends on playing games, the processors in the base models will definitely remain c2d, with possibly the top upgrade becoming the quad (I would have never bought the top model anyway, being pricey as it is).

Well, I will use it for both. I will play StarCraft 2 when that comes out, so I have to be fully prepared with the best hardware I can get for that ...but I will f course use it for work as well, which includes 3d modelling and Photoshop so I need a computer that makes that comfortable.
But, since it´s a home computer I want it to look good, to fit as a home computer in a non office room, so not a messy workstation And because I will never have Windows ever again if I can avoid it, which I can at home.....so the cool factor is of course an important part in all of this (But that´s why we are here isn´t it ? )
