I've never had problems w/ Categories and updating/removing apps.. Where did you hear that?
The only problem with categories is operator error. People forget to take the icons out of the folders before re-JB, then the icons don't show up.
Of course there is an easy 2 step fix for this.
The app works just fine, it's the humans who can't work the app.
I wouldn't mind if they shortened up the "Loading..." screen a bit. That, and the fact that the apps are all made more box-like (instead of the rounded edges).
Oh! I'd also like it if they made it possible to rearrange the icons in the folders the same way we can rearrange the regular springboard instead of having to figure out how high up to put an app in the edit screen in order for it to be in the spot on the second row in the thrid column (I'm not that specific, just would be a good idea)

)If you uninstall an app while its in a folder and reinstall it, then it wont show up either in your homescreen or the folder you put it in, but that is easily fixed by putting the icon back into the folder using categories since it shows up in your add app list. That's the only issue I've had so far, other then that its working great.
There is a quicker fix than that
Settings/General/Restrictions/Enable Restrictions, then Disable Restrictions
All of your missing icons will magically appear, all at one time.

Most likely simplicity of programming.
I started using Stacks v3 except for my games... I have too many games for a stack and don't feel like being that guy with a stack for each genre of game.

Did you click on the "i" and enable your theme inside the folder ?
Another reason to use stacks when it comes out!

Hell, the alpha version of it works better than Categories.

You need to have a theme already enabled in winterboard, so you could use that theme. But I have the same problem too, some apps are rounded and some arent.
