Smooth, fast, great battery life for me. No carplay issues.

Different people, different usages, different results, different experience.
At least the thread on how bad IOS 14 is probably won't show up for a year.

People complained that IOS 12 did nothing and now IOS 13 was too many changes

Latest update is that I am still experiencing the issues and Apple have now offered to replace the device in an attempt to fix it. I’ll be doing this tomorrow. Given that they’ve offered to replace my 128gb xr, I am thinking that i will see if I can get the equivalent but an 11 instead and pay the difference. Any reason why Apple would be reluctant to do this? It may seem like I’m just angling for an upgrade but from my view point they decided to choose that course of action and if they’re going to take a £679 off the shelves and just give it to me, why wouldn’t they take a £779 phone off the shelves and take £100 off me? I’m probably overthinking it!

In the US, they just won't do that. But there's absolutely no harm in asking.

I won't say "ruined," but I am rather unhappy that after several updates to iOS 13 and one to macOS Catalina, my albums in the Photos app still don't synchronize. Photos I take on my iPhone do appear on my iMac, and changes I make to album names on my iPhone do sync to my other devices in seconds, but the order of those albums don't sync at all, and in fact are different on my iMac, iPad Pro, and iPhone. This wasn't the case before iOS 13 and macOS Cataline were released.

Also, I'm now finding that when I edit a photo on my iPhone, there's a good change that the app will lock up and that I'll have to shut it down and restart it. This started happening after the 13.2 update.

I normally don't hesitate to update my devices to the latest OS, because I've only encountered minor bugs in the past, and they're fixed quickly. With iOS 13 and macOS Catalina, the bugs are bigger and updates still haven't fixed some of them.

Only issue I have is with something like half of my notifications not appear on my Apple Watch, but I don't know if iOS or WatchOS is to blame or something else entirely.

I have found similar issues. I am completely unable to synch my photo lib from my mac to my phone. This is a new issue in Catalina. I've raised a bug with apple but they are yet to respond. I've narrowed it down a bit: I mange my photos in their own folders (I would never trust photos with my photos as it has proven too buggy too often in the past). This means "Copy items to the Photos library" is not checked. All the albums (which is 99.99% in my case) that is no IN the photos library, does not sync. Can anybody else confirm this, and help raise the issue with Apple as this was not the case prior to Catalina.
I find this very annoying since I use my mac to organise and edit my photos, but I am usually sharing them with people on my phone.

Apple is playing with fire by testing the loyalty of their customer base. Sure most people won't trade in their iPhones for an Android, but slowly and surely, they are creating some psychological doubt every time that customer's email doesn't work right or their Safari restarts.

This slowly erodes the brand, and makes it a little less invincible.

The next time they look to upgrade, in a year or so, perhaps all this doubt has accumulated to the point where they say "you know what, I think I'll give Android a try".

As others have said, it is totally mind-boggling that such significant bugs can endure for weeks and months.

iOS 13 hasn't ruined my iPhone but it has made the experience less than enjoyable. Such a shame they couldn't replicate iOS 12's stability.

I think this explains iOS 13 at best. I hope the bugfix will get released the next days because I will get my new AirPods soon and I’m on 13.1.3 again

My iOS 13/iPadOS aren’t without some small issues. Certainly ones I’d prefer fixed sooner than later. But it’s nothing I can’t work around even is some, background tasks for instance, are somewhat annoying. But on the whole, no, I wouldn’t say it has ruined it for me. It’s not yet perfect, but I still think it’s better than 12, features wise at least.

Isn’t that what the internet in general is for :p

Despite some little niggles with iOS 13 still needing ironed out. I’ve been impressed with the battery life (Pro Max is the first iPhone ever to actually last a day for me), it’s fast and smooth, has some nice new features. It will definitely be the best iOS to date once they have smoothed it out.

I have been happy with iOS 13 on my XS Max, still runs great, HOWEVER my iPad Air 2 has not gone unscathed, with multitasking having gone down the toilet somewhat.

Either way, these seem like teething issues, and having come from Android, I am glad that Apple are working tirelessly to fix these issues, in lost instances if these were Android devices we’d be waiting weeks and months for a fix sometimes.

At least they won't have to worry about OS updates if they switch to Android. ;)

My X has been fine on IOS 13.

Yeah multitasking is straight up broken. Any app left in the background is prone to being force quit sooner rather than later. It’s as bad on the iPhone as it is on the iPad.

You will get a refurbished XR as a like for like swap not a new device off the shelves.

Got the device and to be fair it looks absolutely spotless so may not be a refurb. Also, the model number begins with M which allegedly indicates that this is a new model. However, 1. I’m not sure if the whole M is new, F is carrier refurb and N is Apple refurb is true and 2. Even if it is, I’m sure Apple can just change the model number to make it look new.

Either way, it hasn’t fixed the issues so looks like I’m stuck with this diminished performance for as long as I have an iPhone.

Sadly though, like everyone else in here, you have lost the ability to truly multitask on your phone because 13.2 has crippled that feature.

1. Notifications are not showing a lot of the time.

2. Email notifications that do show up lead to the app with no new email.

3. Notifications are not showing up on my watch.

4. My Smart battery case randomly stops charging the phone. I had it replaced and it continues to do this occasionally.

It is ******** not being able to roll back to 12.

I’m under the impression you were looking for that since the beginning...

btw in my opinion iOS 13 has bugs, for sure, but still is the best iOS seen so far, and I love some features of it.
Only major complain is memory management, but I’m sure Apple will fix it.

Actually not. Some apps are staying in the background even for days (something not happening in iOS 12), while some other are refreshing in a matter of seconds. Definitely a bug.

Its been more than a month I didn't update my iPhone 7 to ios 13, yet have no regrets since watching out comments.
Standard internet though....generally its those that have issues that will take the time to post comments etc whilst those who are fine probably wont write about it much. I've got iOS13 on a 6S and had no issues bar Carplay crashing in one of the early betas. If you base making the decision to upgrade just on what people write on a forum like this you probably would be put off upgrading as its probably not the most balanced of discussions.

No I wasn’t, not at all. I’m perfectly happy with the xr. The replacement phone was on the 2nd visit to the Genius Bar, after 5 live chat conversations, 7 support calls and logs being sent to the engineers twice. The fact that after all that Apple couldn’t diagnose the issue surely entitled me to the opportunity to see if a replacement does the trick.

The fact it hasn’t worked is irritating but I don’t feel bad for going down that road as a multi billion dollar tech company couldn’t solve a tech issue.

If anything I’m worse off as now have a refurbished phone which I’ve no idea how was treated by its previous owner as opposed to mine which was well looked after.

I’m in no way trying to profit from this or get a free upgrade, I simply want my £799 phone to work properly.
