Has leopard bootcamp fixed the Al iMac windows sound issue?

I have an aluminium imac, and get the evil "whoosy" sounds in windows. Just wondering, I assume the drivers are updated in the Leopard version of bootcamp - is the sound issue fixed? Is there anything else good updated in it?

I'm just wondering whether to bother updating the bootcamp drivers, as at the moment windows is running fine except for the sound issue.

Also... where the hell is the bootcamp driver disk in leopard? I had a quick look, but couldn't see the bit where you make the CD!
 
The sound is no different, although I find it a minor issue. There are updated drivers with Leopard for all sorts of things though, including Radeon drivers.

No need to make a driver CD though if you already have Windows installed. Just insert the Leopard DVD in Windows and it will install itself.
 
Thanks, that explains it then. I'll update it anyway I think, although I use the 'proper' radeon drivers from ATI for better performance.

The sound is a minor thing yes, it's just really annoying as now and then I run stuff with fairly quiet but important sound - you end up hearing as much of the whooshing sound as the real sound, and it can totally ruin the effect.

Anyone actually figured out what causes it or how to fix it?
 
Same problem....at first I thought it was part of the soundtrack to Bioshock!...LOL
Leopard does not fix it. I hope someone can figure it out.....
 
It might be a way from apple to keep us under mac os x.

Yeah, I do prefer MAC OS X, but I need AutoCad... So I must use windows sometimes with really crappy sound :(

Perhaps this is a problem limited to those who use the internal speakers of their iMacs. I use the S/PDIF to a home theater and have never had any 'whooshing' sound issue that I can detect when in Boot Camp.
 
Well, to tell you the truth, one of the most important reasons to choose iMac was it's size, compact body with all-in-one and no wires. I do really hate these.

So I would really like to have acceptable sound just with integrated speakers...

So, summarising... is this a problem of drivers or smth more serious?
 
Does this sound happen if you use Fusion or Parallel? The reason i ask is because this is the route I'll be going.

my 2 pence, i installed xp sp2 (from a hp laptop backup cd) via boot camp on my alu imac

had no problems with sound? only use it to play half life :D
 
The sound is probably a little bit better now, but still far away from what I can hear in MAC OS... :(
 
External speakers fix the problem...

Came by this again as an accident in a Google search for another sound problem I'm having with my iMac while using Windows which is after waking up sometimes from sleep the sound just doesn't work and says there's a problem with the audio or whatever and so I have to restart to get it to work properly.

Anyway I was just reading through this thread and I had the exact same problems on the internal speakers with it making funny and strange noises and well I still do. I just like to back up though that having external speakers make that stop happening, only does it on the internal ones.

However recently I plugged in my headphones into my logitech speakers and I heard odd little high pitched sounds while editing stuff in Premiere on Windows.

Very odd...
