Has microsoft advanced to apple releasing the Surface studio?

What do you think?
It's a competitor for the mac pro? For the imac? Or for the ipad pro(without the portability)

I think microsoft is overtakin apple. Apple didn't make any surprise in the last years. (Surprises like ipod, like iphone, ...)

The Surface Studio is a beautiful computer, but their target market seems quite specific. Looks better than the iMac though.

They're targeting creatives. Is that some Mac Pro users? Sure. Is that some iMac users? Most assuredly. This should be pretty transparent, no?

Whatever is left of Mac Pro users in 2017 (myself included) are folks who want raw desk power, something with more power in the processing and graphics department. That's a need something like the HP Z series fills, not really the surface studio.

They're making steps in the right direction.

Not necessarily trying to replace machines like the Mac Pro, but Microsoft is doing the right thing by pushing towards a more creative-friendly philosophy. If things go well, more and more people will be comfortable with making the switch.

i don't think we'll see this computer last for too long as it's not entirely practical for all but a few use cases.
still, interesting in-and-of-itself and it will contribute towards the paradigm shift in personal computing.

That was released over two weeks ago. What makes it worthy of discussion now, and why didn't you write anything?

Something released by Microsoft two weeks ago is not worthy of discussion, but 2 to 4 year old hardware currently being sold by Apple continues to be debated. Hmmm.

A whole generation that was weaned on the "Etch-a-Sketch" might really go for this.

Thats kind of like saying the Star Trek generation really gravitated towards iPads and flip phones.

Not sure what you mean. It can still do anything a regular desktop AIO can, while adding some new features. Even if the interface doesn't take off, you can still use it just like any old computer.

It can do anything an AIO can, but at the price of a workstation.

You're basically paying for the large touchscreen surface. The internals, however, are not that spectacular.

I do have to admit that the industrial design is spot on and Apple should start to get worried.

that rotating thinga-ma-jigga is like the macbook pro's touchbar, only useful on apps that support it, otherwise just a pretty hindrance.
