i just found out that no email shows in the "sent" folder on my iphone from the entire weekend. either i have no life;) or mobileme didn't sync any mail sent from my powerbook during the weekend. i'm not at my powerbook but i know that i sent 20 mails or so and my GF recieved some of them. so shouldn't they show up in my "sent" folder on my iphone? my powerbook was online and running for hours, so enough time for a regular automated sync.

my work machine is locked down on IE6 so i can't check mobileme to see if those mails appear in the cloud. (and apple in their wisdom decided to drop IE6 support. they could have left the basic email client from .mac up and running for IE6)

it just stinks when you want to resend an email or check an adress that was sent to you and you can't because failme doesn't sync.

why the heck is it so hard after month to get basic functionality up and stable?

well, apple said by the end of the year they want it fully functional:rolleyes:

btw: my GF wanted an iphone and mobileme but i convinced her that a blackberry is the better solution and more stable. so this pathetic f%^&up of apple has consequences because she is the second person i convinced to not go with apple. and many other people do the same i guess.

EDIT: failme btw does not push any email for me since yesterday. but push is so unreliable that i didn't even notice anymore. it works most of the time usually (80% or so get pushed, for the rest i have to sync).

?? if its been a recent development then perhaps they are doing some updating for a new release? (2.2 or some added functionalities)

purely speculation mind you, could just as easily be a bug or a downed server

that's an interesting idea. i hope they do a major revamp of their systems and improve them.

anyway, i think i will switch of push entirely till it works. i just don't know how my calendar and contacts sync then?

Yeah, MM has been a bit strange for me lately. Either being not available (the mail app works fine, though) or replying to messages takes several tries. I am chalking it up to Apple working behind the scenes to fixing it!

MM is like an old car - you get used to its faults and quirks.
Trouble is MM is brand new and ready for the scrap yard already :p

Ohhhh what could have been.

I have yet to see anything show up in my calendar on me.com after entering things on my iphone. I have changed the appointments slighly, turned the phone on and off, etc, etc.

NOTHING shows up. I want a refund.

I get the me.com email test messages I sent. I also noticed that on my Laptop, it asks me if I want to SYNC the calendar (Vista laptop). There is no checkbox to "Always Sync"

Someone has not thought this all the way through at Apple.

The itunes Info tab says that my iphone is set to sync with mobile me and HAS NOT OPTIONS. Well if that is the case, why does my me.com, iphone, ical on my Mac Mini, and Outlook on my Vista laptop not have anything other than what is added on the respective devices???

For the life of me, I cannot get anything to go from iphone to cloud to ical and vice versa.

Eh? What? On the PC, MobileMe sync'ing is not done using iTunes. You do not use iTunes to sync with MobileMe, although you do initially install the MobileMe applet at the same time as iTunes. You do not use iTunes to sync MobileMe and the PC, or MobileMe and the iPhone. However, if you do want to sync with MobileMe, you do have to tell iTunes about that, so that iTunes will not conflict with MobileMe.

On the PC, sync'ing is controlled by the MobileMe applet in the Control Panel. Open up the Control Panel, and double-click on the MobileMe applet (you did allow iTunes to install it, right?). Once open, you'll see your MobileMe account status (and, if you do not, you didn't enter your MobileMe account info -- use the buttons there to configure it). You can control the sync settings via the sync tab. Note that this controls only the sync'ing between MobileMe and the PC -- it does not control sync'ing between MobileMe and the iPhone. Also, note that sync'ing is not instantaneous; there can be a delay of 15 min or more, depending on the settings that you use (you can always force a manual sync, though).

On the iPhone, you've got to enter your MobileMe account info. Go to Settings->Mail,Contacts,Calendar->YourName@me.com->Account Info. Make sure that your address and password are correct (your address is of the form, "YourName@me.com", without the quotes). Note that this controls only the sync'ing between MobileMe and the iPhone -- it does not control sync'ing between MobileMe and the PC.

Thanks for the info. I am aware and have set up the Mobile Me in the PC control panel (even have it in the system tray for easy access). I have it set to automatic sync, but spent some time last night forcing it to sync. I have the Mobile Me email set up correctly on the iphone (and was able to send and receive to my work email on the phone).

I mentioned itunes as when you go into it and look at the sync information, on the Calendar item it does not give you the option to set what you sync with as it gives the message that it is being handled by "Mobile Me." Because of that message and the fact that Mobile Me DOES NOT show any calendar changes or updates, I went looking to see if this was part of the problem.

I did notice in my web searches that the calendar page on some iphone screen shots have something mine does not. See the attached image. In the bottom right there is an inbox type icon to the right of the word Month. I do not have that. And at the top left, I do not have the word "calendar" that looks like you can go back to more calendars.

Passwords are correct. Mobile Me in Control Panel is set up correctly. The Mac Mini ical and Mobile Me both are set up and working correctly as ical is shared with the me.com. I get nothing other than sending an email to the iphone. I feel that something on the iphone is where my problem is, but I see no options that are incorrect. I even made the mobile me email the default email. I want my calendar's to be updated across all three (iphone, Vista Laptop, and Mac Mini).

Any help would be appreciated.

(Not sure if this is an issue, the iphone is set up with the itunes on the Vista Laptop and not the Mac as I take the laptop with me on the road).

Here is another view of iphone calendar screen. Mine does not have the calendar (like there are multiple ones) or the inbox at the bottom right.

Could this be part of why my mm wont sync?

That's step 1. Step 2 is going into the MobileMe applet and checking your sync settings.

Red herring. Apple appears to have removed some features from MobileMe, without changing some of their pictures, etc., etc..

there was somewhere an article that you have to reset your calendar on the cloud with the calendar from your mac (or PC). on the mac this is done with the system preferences/mobile me/sync

somehow apples databases are screwed up. i had that problem and resetting fixed it for me. although i lost everything on the calendar on the cloud. since then calendar entries show up on all devices (most of the time:rolleyes:).

I have my sync settings set. I kept doing the Sync Now to force the calendar and no results.

I also get a warning message on the laptop about the sync wanting to change the calendar, but there is no option to say always accept. So I am guessing if i get it to work, I will still have to hit the ACCEPT when i get back to the laptop.

(the windows contacts which is not selected was part of me trying to test the mm fucntions.)

New update: iCal on the Mac Mini is SYNCing with me.com (either making me.com entries on the Vista PC or on another PC).

I noticed on the Mac Mini when I look at system preferences and mobile me and devices it shows the mac, my laptop, but NO iphone.

It's hard to tell. Ever since Apple announced that they screwed up and offered that 6 month extension I have still been experiencing problems with it. It has not worked 100% ever.

Ok. Thanks for the update on iphones not showing up. I have all the settings set up as per other posts.

I basically have it narrowed down to the Vista Laptop accessing me.com has no issues and if I enter an appointment or ToDo, it shows up on the Mac Mini me.com and on iCal of the Mac Mini.

The only thing MM is not doing is updating my iPhone. Nothing goes to the phone and nothing goes from the phone to the computers either me.com or iCal.

I'm having Mobile Me trouble today though it's only (I think) when I try and log into it via browser. My Mac sends mail and my iPhone does too.

I get the familiar error when trying to get in via browser:

"Your MobileMe Mail is currently unavailable.

We apologize for this service interruption and are working hard to resolve the problem.

For more information, please refer to System Status on the MobileMe Support Page."

But when you go to the support page it says everything's OK.

Cleared caches, etc.

Given that the 90 day extension ends next Friday - maybe they are doing their last fixes.

Or, since RIMM stock is so inexpensive now, perhaps Apple should just buy them whole to get the experience and the (more) reliable platform.

Solved my non-transfer to my iphone from me.com and ical.

Reset all my sync's on ical and I deleted and reset up my mobile me on my iphone. Works perfect, I see all my calendars, etc.

Just a note, it deletes your iphone calendar...instead of merging them, so if you made any appts on your iphone, they are gone.
