I purchased two Apple gift cards with significant funds on each card more than a year ago..

I used them a small amount to buy a cheap accessory or two leaving the vast majority of the funds on the gift cards.

The gift cards in my Wallet in iOS tell me the amount of funds remaining. both a significant amount. But on the Apple Website where you can check the balance of the gift card one of my gift cards is at Zero despite my gift card showing a high amount in my wallet and the other is several hundred less than in the balance than what appears on the card in my wallet.

I have no recollection of using these cards in any significant way, I've never lost my phone nor have I ever received any receipt or statement telling me the gift card has been used.

So has someone been able to use my gift cards through auto-generating codes and PIN numbers and eventually getting lucky with a correct match or even less likely has someone been able to access my gift cards on my iPhone?

I'm going to check all my Apple purchases but I don't think I've purchased any expensive product because I've been patiently waiting for the computer I want to be released.

If I'm correct and my funds have been used by someone stranger is there anything Apple will do to help me?

Also is what I described impossible? Am I the one who has spent these funds and I don't remember? If that's the case I'm less worried but why wouldn't the gift cards update themselves in the wallet app with their current balance?

Your best solution is to give Apple a call. Also, I notice that when checking my balances, I have to update my Payment method... usually just putting in the security code of my primary card and then my GC balances will update.

I have a credit card attached to my Apple account, but when I have GC $$$ loaded, the GC acts as a primary payment method until depleted then all purchases revert back to my cc.

Okay, that's not I have it in my Wallet in iOS. I have just the gift-cards. I'm so confused because there seems to be more than one thing wrong. Why aren't the balances updating and who could have used the credit on the gift cards if it's not me.

Make the call to Apple a priority.

Yes, definitely contact Apple and explain your situation to them.
