I see it stutters and not as smooth as Catalina. Got my mac mini m1 16GB yesterday and based on my observations so far I feel so. Anyone else bothered by the same?

I think it might depend on whether you are looking at files that have universal QuickLook plugins or not. If not, and if it’s the first time, Rosetta will have to translate the plug in.

I'm looking at screenshots. Simple screenshots of png files.
Is anyone else really not noticing this?

Plus the iMovie is practically broken. I can't work on it AT ALL.

In my experience QuickLook on my M1 MBA is far faster at opening and going through high res image files and videos than my Intel MBP. Plus my MBP would get up to 80°C+ and the fans would come on full blast just using QuickLook to go through those same exact files. As for iMovie, I have only done some very basic editing to put together a few family videos and I've had no issues whatsoever.

Could be lag based on spotlight still indexing files if it’s that new. Give the os a few days to sort itself out. Especially on a laptop that’s opened and closed all the time (or- put to sleep regularly) this is an apparent phenomenon with new macs. Generally not an issue unless it’s been a week or something.

No lag here. It was already more or less instant on my outgoing Late-2015/4GHz iMac... but it certainly no less instant on the M1 mini.

Perhaps? But I’m driving a 49” ultrawide and it’s not hitching at all.

Is this too much for an iMovie project?
About 7 minutes long.

I’m getting stutter, as the image zooms in and out from the thumb. Fine when flipping between images though. 4k 32-inch monitor.
Exact same thing happening to me as well. Thanks for verifying. Only when zooms-in and zooms-out and for large images like 4K, 5K or above. In catalina and intel macbook it was smooth all the way in my 4K 27" monitor. In Bug sur it's not smooth - not in my m1 not in my intel macbook.

I’ll try some more tests. Are you using a scaled display resolution? I am, so maybe that’s causing trouble.
