Last night I opened my time machine preferences and noticed I needed to reselect which drive to use for Time Machine because I renamed my external hard drive. This was at 10:30 last night and right now the Time Machine backup icon is still spinning and says Finishing Backup. I checked my backups and it says it was last backed up on the first of May. I'm worried because my temps are rather high compared to its idle state and have been since last night when Time Machine started to back up everything. I also noticed that the process "coreservicesd" is taking up 99% of my memory. My computer is running fine but I'm just nervous that something is going wrong because I never seen that process take so much memory and cause my computer to work so hard even when it is idling. Any input would be helpful.

hhhmm this has been known to occur occassionally. i would probably recommend shutting down your computer, just hit restart/shut down and then DONT TOUCH IT. just wait for it to do it on its own.

if your not even game to do that, just leave it. the core services shouldnt be hogging all the resources, it could probably be forced to turn off, but im not aware of the threads it runs to dont do it lol.
