In a van down by the river
Putting the new phone glee mindset aside for a moment, have you found yourself using your new phone more due to better hardware and OS features compared to your previous phone, or has your new phone usage been commiserate with usage with your old phone? For me, my usage has been up a very small amount. I think that is due to me still tinkering with the phone to get it set up and running like i want.

I use my phone a lot all the time anyway. It’s my main source of entertainment when I’m out of my house and even when I’m home, I’m always on it.

I use my phone a lot anyway. I hardly use my computer. It’s my main source of pretty much everything.

Mine has remained the same. I’m on my phone all the time even when I’m at work. It’s also my main source of entertainment.

My mini is getting zero use because it's sitting in a wrapped package that I can't open till Christmas. (To add insult to injury, I had to go buy it myself and hand it over to the Household CFO for strict only-at-Christmas-unwrapping.)

but, if I had to guess.... my usage may go up only slightly or not at all since I'm already using the 7 either heavily throughout the days when I'm not working, or used very very little during the work day.

If I get PWM headaches, then my usage will go WAY down, lol.

My usage has skyrocketed. The massive increase can be attributed to the phenomenal camera on my 12 Pro. I’ve also been making/taking a lot more phone calls with the holidays and planning a trip.

Very impressed with the battery performance as I’m still at 23% with 6h 28m screen on time.

Nice!

it's still a bummer how much iOS 14 sucked battery life compared to iOS 13.

I was getting ~5.25hrs screen on time with my 7, then it plummeted to ~3.25hrs SOT after the update to iOS14 (and has been that way ever since).

My conspiracy theory is that iOS is still calculating and picking up the Tracing Data, but just not sharing it when the toggle is off.

-or- iOS 14 has a lot more ongoing processes in the background related to Siri, with no way to turn it off (even with Siri suggestions off).

Having bought the max this year, I find myself not reaching out for the iPad as much anymore. So, in that sense, my iPhone usage has definitely gone up.

It could potentially be my main computer ( mostly ) if Apple gave the max split screen multitasking. The Note 20 ultra is more of a computer replacement at this point with it’s superior functionality for me!

My phone has been my main computer since I left school. All of my banking, paying bills, shopping and communications are done on this powerful little sucker.

Before I had an iPhone, I used my mobile phone very little. Now the situation is getting untenable. I spend hours a day poking it, trying to find some meaning in what I’m doing... of course there is none. I know that.
The net result seems to be that I have a drastically reduced attention span, I have trouble reading books, but I’ll read the same websites over and over... it’s terrible.

Is this a yearly phone usage cycle for you?

I am on my iPad most of the time. If I didn’t have that, I would be part of the iPhone addicts club. Lol
No, no... it was especially bad because I only upgrade every 4 years or so. I like to wait until my phone is crippled before moving on to a new model... which essentially guarantees the new phone will be a drastic improvement!
