Haswell Mini: Same RAM specifications as Late 2012 Mini?

because with HASWELL architecture RAM specifications should stay the same, am I right?

The odds are that will be the correct RAM if Apple does release a Haswell mini with user upgradeable ram.

The dual drive kit may or may not fit in the Mac mini update - it depends on what they do to the design of it.

There are a lot of ifs to have pre-bought stuff for it. I'd suggest returning it. Also if Apple is only charge $200 to go from 8GB to 16GB, I'd lean towards giving Apple the money based on how much ram from third parties cost.

I bought KINGSTON 2 x 8GB at German Amazon for 110 € incl. TAX. apple store Germany charges 300 € for 16 GB in the mini ...

(KINGSTON RAM always worked fine for me in iMac and MB pro)

I can't say for sure until we hear about the Haswell mini. It could be non-userreplaceable for all we know.

op you are a very smart shopper. you can sell it for a profit on ebay if it does not fit in the mini. also it is 1600 speed and if the new mini is 1866 speed your ram would work fine. 1600 rma and 1866 ram are close to the same/ timings vs freq speed even them out. I would guess you are 90% same to use it and the other 10% you could sell it on ebay for more then you paid

According to to your link this is 1.5V ram. If the mini does get upgraded to Haswell, it will likely require DDR3L which is 1.35V.

I'm starting to get excited about this news...didn't Tim Cook say that 2014 was going to be huge for Apple and more new products coming out this year than ever before? It makes sense that the new Mini may arrive next month.

I am not one to post often, but I don't know why one would buy ram now when the specs for a new Mac Mini have not been officially released. It is doubtful that ram prices will change all that much when a new Mac Mini is released.

I will be buying a new Mini when it is (finally) released. From all the posts about disasters folks have had in doing user-installed memory and SSD, it has me thinking the incremental $120 for buying the 16 GB memory from Apple (which will also warrant the memory along with the Mini) is worth it. Thoughts?

Your assuming the mini retains the removable memory. If it does not, then you won't have much of a choice but to buy from Apple. Even if the form factor stays the same, upgrading the RAM is definitely the easiest upgrade. People seem to run into problems most of the time when removing the small/delicate connectors required to take apart the machine to install SSD's.

I don't think it's wise to buy memory before we even know what the new Mini's RAM requirements are going to be.

One could end up with two unusable RAM sticks on their hands.

I would buy the base configuration of RAM, then wait a bit until any unforseen "RAM issues" appear and get sorted out before I added any RAM. A month or two ought to do.

As an aside, my late 2012 Mini is still doing fine on the 4gb "factory configuration", using 10.8.5. Although I realize that might be the absolute minimum for Mavericks...
