Hate the fan placement on the Surface Pro 4! Really really worried!!! :(

Last week i have just got a Surface Pro 4(I5 Core/8GB of RAM/256GB Storage model) which it is awesome so far and got it with the dark blue type cover but the one thing that i don't like about it is the Fan Placement on all the round the device. :/

And when i have the Surface Pro 4 laying flat(on a bed sheets, on a table, etc) especially when using it, The fans are always very very near to the cotton of the bed sheets and on the table which might have dust..

So at the moment when i use the Surface Pro 4 when laying flat i have a big book under my Surface Pro 4 or using the kickstand to prevent dust getting it in as quickly.

I am always worried that my Surface Pro 4 will get dust so much more quickly(and will get very hot(over time) then my previous Acer Windows tablet(I5 Core which had fans as well), So i am really worried that in 6 months/1/ 2 years that i will have to get it checked out and get someone to clean the dust out at the PC World(The place i bought the Surface Pro 4).....

I don't really like the fan placement on the Surface Pro 4 and am really really worried..... :/

Surface Pro 4 users over time did you have to go back to the computer store to get someone clean the dust out of your Surface Pro 4?? Should i be worried about the dust going in when laying flat while using?? Am i just paranoid or just being too careful??

Hard to say what will happen over the future. You can always blow some compressed air gently into the holes.

We bought our sp4 16 months ago and I'm not worried about dust, but that's me.

What do you mean?? Do you mean that i blow some air from my mouth to the fan holes??

I have heard from internet forums that it is bad doing that because the dust will go in to even further in the device....

No I was referring to the use of a can of compressed air generally used for computer parts, like keyboards etc. YMMV will vary on this. I use compressed air in my laptops and desktops to blow out dust from the innards, but I can see why you may be hesitant. I have used compressed air on my sp4, but whether it actually blows dust further in, I can't say. If I need to, if it ever comes to that, I will just get it repaired.

I wouldn't worry about it whatsoever.

I have a two year old SP3 and the only place I use it is on my bed. If dust has gotten inside, I would never know and it still runs as good as it did that day in November 2014 when I brought it home.

I tend to avoid anything with a fan that's non-user serviceable. Instead, get the fanless model (Surface Pro 4 Core M3 if you can live with 4GB DRAM or Samsung GalaxyPro S i5 Kaby Lake with 8GB) or look into disabling Intel turbo to keep the fan from kicking on. One thing I've learned from experience over the decades is fans eventually rattle and go bad that start out with symptoms of slower performance from throttling then instability and eventually in the trash bin if it's not user serviceable.

I think you are overly concerned. PC's get dusty over time, some canned air will help clean it up.

Mine gets used in dusty conditions all the time, as they said before a can of compressed air now and then and keep going.
