I currently have a iPhone 3g with the 3.1 firmware and 5.5 baseband. I am just a little confused in what I am reading and was wondering if I can still jailbreak even though I upgraded to 3.1. I understand that I wouldnt be able to unlock and dont really need it anyway. I am also using a windows computer. Thanks Alot!

Yes, you will be able to JB from 3.1 but not unlock.

The Windoze version of 3.1 JB tools is not released yet.

Watch DevTeam Blog for more info.

Thanks. I'm seeing alot of people talking about custom firmwares and jailbreaking 3.1 on windows already. Am I able to do this or do i have to wait for the release of the windows installer?

If you can get hold of the correct properly assembled IPSW, yes, it can be done for 3G.

They are custom_restore IPSW's

Make sure you get one that is either activated or not activated depending on the carrier you will use.

I recommend using Goggle to do some research and get a tutorial.
