Have a iPad Pro 12.9 and mid 2015 15.4 rMBP keep or sell ?

So back in 2013 I picked up a MacBook Air then in 2015 I was looking for a little bit more power for computer gaming already knowing that by sticking with the Mac lineup I wasn't going to get a very high-quality gaming machine which was fine with me so I searched out a open box mid 2015 15.4 Retina MacBookPro w/ discrete graphics which retailed for $2,499.95 which I already know it's too much for what i planned to use it for but the open box price was $600 less @ $1830.xx for only been used for a week maybe two in my eyes was a great deal and i thought if i end up I not liking it i could turn around an sell it on CraigsList for something just under Retail and make some ones so I went for it (*2). and ended up using it for about 5 months as my main machine till i got my iPad Pro 12.9 then it Started to fade away from day to day use and to once or twice a week to a few time a months if needed to restore ipad or iPhone or iff i wanted to hope on CitySkyines everyone in awhile then last October my dad used it as his main windows machine under Bootcamp while his Windows laptop was broken it took him till december ish to get sent in to be fixed at HP he ended up using it for 2 or 3 months then i said i want my MacBook Pro back and he switch back over and i have been using it off and on though out the last 2 and 1/2 months off and on now only gaming every once in a while
Getting back to details on my switching of devices

(*2) about three months later I picked up the iPad air 2 which I only held onto for just about 3 month before selling to be replace by with a iPad Pro 12.9 128gb space grey w/ cellular which i use daily with Apple Smart Keyboard.

In the End I Don't know if i should KEEP or SELL my rMBP because someday my needs may change and I don't want to have to reinvest in a New Machine being that i do almost everything on my IPad Pro but on. The other hand I know someone elso that tried the new 2016 rMBP w/ Touch bar my like to have a computer with all the i/O ports they are use to having and then I could get money in return please guys

Help me out give me ur Honest Options please

I have a similar set up - maxed out late 2013 rMBP and 12.9 iPad Pro. I use the iPad as my main machine but sometimes I do need a traditional computer. Due to the limitations the iPad has, I cannot afford to get stuck. Also, I really like my desk set up and when working for long hours, I need a desk and large display, which is still something that can only be done on mac os. I think the rMBP is a great un-compromised machine. Great legacy I/O, great screen and it will be a solid machine for YEARS to come.

That is what i thought also and why i am thinking i should keep my rMBP just in case i need real computer it is a very solid Machine

Unless you need to money that you could get from the sale of the rMBP, I would strongly recommend that you keep it (along with the 12.9 Pro).

Your 2015 rMBP is one of the last of the best (IMO). As mentioned before, if you sell it and then find that you need one again, you'll end up with (again IMO) a lesser option with the newer models at significantly higher prices (even when used).



As I've mentioned elsewhere, my current Apple devices will most likely be my last. When my 12.9 Pro, Mini 4, iPhone SE, late 2013 iMac, or 2014 11" MBA "goes to that bit-bucket in the sky" they will most likely not be replaced by an Apple product. I don't like where Apple is going and I don't see what they currently offer as a good price-value proposition.

So I continue to take great care of those devices to prolong their usable life...and get great enjoyment and productivity out of them in the meantime.

I had that exact set up - but downsized to the 2016 13" non-TB (base version) and a 9.7 iPP.

I think keeping it for the legacy ports is a poor decision. In practice, I find hubs much easier to use, and also much cleaner. Having only one cable attached to your laptop is better than multiple ones, in my opinion. And hubs are portable.

I found I actually use the iPP more as an tablet with the 9.7, and my laptop more..since it's much smaller than the 15", and easier to get to/take places.

If you're not using the processing power, I think selling it while it's sought after is a smart choice.

See if I was to to move to the next generation of Macbookpro it would have to be the one with the discrete graphics because one of the reasons I have mine is for gaming so that is why I am leaning towards keeping mine

You will need to keep both because you will never know you might lose your iPP someday.

I would keep it. The good news is, they DO have the option on the site to purchase the last generation MacBooks. I had upgraded from the MacBook 12 to the last generation MacBook Retina because I had no interest in the new keyboard, new USB-C ports, removal of magnetic charger, and the speed was not a ridiculous upgrade on the new versions.

I am working with the smaller versions of both, the 13" MacBook Pro and the 9.7" iPad Pro. I use them both in totally different ways. My MacBook has the power and screen real estate to handle the more robust work, and my iPad goes along with me in areas for the portable use.

I am sure I could get along for a few days without my MacBook, and just using my iPad, just as I am sure I could get along for a few days without my iPad and just my MacBook. But I couldn't do without either for long term. Just me, but I vote keep it.
