Have access to education and military discount. Blackfriday any better???

I am finally moving from Windows to a Mac. First time in my life for a mac. I have access to the education and the military discounts. Military appears to be better. But with black friday and other holiday sales maybe coming up, is there any reason to wait to buy or would the Military be about the best deal??? For instance, I know on back to school sales, they were giving $150 gift cards with the purchase ( I assume on top of any discounts ).

Do you mean from Apple? Apple's sales tend to be for stuff, things that may be nice to have but aren't going to be the computer.

The Friends and Family discount is the same as the military/veterans discount, I think. That's the best you are going to do, save for the base M2 Mac Mini which Apple offers at an Edu discount of 16%.

BE AWARE that you can COMBINE the "veterans' discount" with Apple's online refurbished items.

Do it this way:
a. sign into Apple's page for veteran discounts (you have to go through the "verification page" first)
b. then, after clicking through that page, you'll get to the "veterans" online store.
c. if you SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM, you will see a link for the refurbished page. Open it.

Now, you'll be able to shop for Apple refurbs and get BOTH the refurbished price with the veteran's discount applied "on top of it".

Apple refurbished items come with the same 1-year warranty "as if new", and you can get AppleCare for them, also.

I've bought from them -- looks "just like new".

Thanks for the tip. I ended up buying a new one but may go out and just price the refurbed ones now. I imagine I can cancel that order if need be if I find another one that fits my needs as well plus is cheaper!


Either way, now I have to figure out HOW to use a Mac. Never even touched a mac so there WILL be a learning curve. May post a question somewhere looking for feedback on the best way to make the transition.

WOuldnt you know, I order the laptop, get it in the mail 2 days ago, and today I get an email from apple saying they are giving away gift cards with purchases for black friday. I need to read the fine print to see if that can be combined with the military discount I used. I guess if it can, I will return the one I just got (but havent even opened yet) and re buy.
