Reading these posts is making me over paranoid probably for no reason.
I'm going to make music with my (soon to come) iMac i7 Quad.
Before I started reading this forum I was going to open the box, connect all my gear, listen for some noise problems and make some music.
Now, after "smartly" reading about all the problems with the new iMacs, I'm going to run a 12 step test like the ones for the alcoholics anonymous: maybe the yellow, maybe the camera dead pixels RIP, maybe the HD is a little too loud if I stick my head into the back of the computer like I've never done before...
forget about it.

Now I want to call Gary who bought my old iMac 2.8 extreme to know if I missed any problems with the iSight or some yellow tinge so I can give him some money back (shame on me for not reading enough)....
Yes, I should probably not read this forum, so why am I here....? (because I'm waiting for it to come next Tuesday, and I can't wait, so why not, LET'S READ ABOUT HOW COOL IT IS..)

PS: NO PLEASE! Don't stop the threads about all could be wrong with the i7 iMac, maybe I need to look a little closer to my machine to find another 1000 reasons why I should have a little chat with Apple, since I paid $2300 for a PERFECT machine. I need to wait a little longer to make music with a perfectly working iSight staring at me with no dead pixels!

If you look hard enough, you'll assuredly find something that isn't perfect on your new computer. I look in the mirror every day and see my imperfections... but it doesn't mean I'm not enjoying myself and doing the best with what I've got! I'm not sure there's ANYTHING you can buy that is completely perfect. And even if it was, it sure won't stay that way for long. The point is if something is getting in your way from enjoying and/or using it, then and only then should you be concerned. The other point is that Apple will do their best to make it right, more so than any other company I can think of.

Unfortunately I'm about to be on my third. Neither were small issues that would be derived from paranoia. Both flickered like crazy. I'm hoping these new ones are issue free.

If you use the iSight for your work in long distance education, 20 dead pixels can be a bit frustrating for the other party.

Well that's one thing i will defentily not do. Do the 12 steps like a recovering alchoolic. I'll just trust my senses (eyes and ears) i'm human good damn it!! I will not be judging nothing on the iMac with some tests that someone created. I'll just trust my eyes, to see IF anything is wrong, and ears to hear IF there's anything wrong.

My 2cents

I can't wait to take some long distance classes to count the dead pixels, so that I can get my money back if it's more then 19... :D

Another victim of these forums like me...

I like the sentiment, but the spelling and grammar need work :)

Well, you sound a little bit like all the iMac problems are the forum fault (i.e. blame the victims). The McUniverse would be so perfect, if we only didn't talk about it.
I beg to differ. I really appreciate a chance to listen to people having problems, as well as to people being happy with their units. It makes me a little better informed consumer.
My biggest disappointment is with the Apple public stand (or a total lack of).

Hey

maybe the imacs with problems is only now at the ones that have brought from a reseller? I guess the ones that is brought from Apples HomePage, shuld be without problems now. Just a guess :)
