I purchased a lightning A/V out to go with my iphone 5 to use with an external monitor for viewing Netflix. All works fine, but the only way it will stay working is with the backlite on which will kill the battery while watching a 2 hour movie.Any way to turn the backlite off while still having the movie working in the background?

Have you tried using the media player buttons in the task switcher. That's what I do when I want to listen to a you tube program with the screen off.
