I've been trying to figure out how the heck to manually control when to have my backlight keyboard on. I think the light sensor is a great idea, but sometimes when I'm working on a desk with a weak lamp i would like to have my keyboard lit (plus it just looks really cool). What's annoying is that because of the light sensor I can only have the lights on at a certain light level. Its this arbitrary line that i would like to control. Does anybody know if there is some sort of plug in that will let me turn on my keyboard backlight on my g4 powerbook independant of the light level?

Thanks

Go to System Preferences / Keyboard, and turn the backlight sensor off. ('Illuminate keyboard in low light conditions')

Use the F keys at the top of the powerbook keyboard to control the light. (may need to press fn key at bottom left at same time.)

F8 toggles the backlight.

F9 and F10 raises and lowers it.
